November 14, 201015 yr I just saw this: http://www.proflightsimulator.com/index5.html?hop=kedipmataDoes anyone know anything about it?Best,BillBill, why not try it - it's free and open-source http://www.flightgear.org/. Proflight is simply repackaged/rebranded and sold for profit. You're not purchasing the product(wink, wink) - again it's open source - what you're purchasing is the time to assemble some of the components and burn it to disc, etc etc..... November 14, 201015 yr ...it's free and open-source http://www.flightgear.org/. A good while back I downloaded FlightGear and the scenery for the Hawaiian Islands. It didn't last long on the HD. But!!! I've downloaded the latest version, along with the scenery for Hawaii and plan to give it a look. The overall efforts of the FlightGear community should be applauded. :(

November 14, 201015 yr The fact that every once in a while (on a fairly regular basis) someone posts on the Avsim forum pointing out this 'new' flight simulator, rather neatly illustrates exactly what the people selling it are up to, in being very reticent to point out that it is simply a repackaged version of a freeware sim that many people already know or have tried. That is to say, in getting people to buy it, it's little more than a scam, which whilst not actually illegal in what it does, is clearly intended to pull the wool over people's eyes to a rather large degree. The freeware open source original is not bad actually, so if you've never tried it out, that one is worth a look, but save your money and don't be fooled by the knocked up rebranded payware version of it, as it won't give you anything very much different from the freebie one.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

That is to say, in getting people to buy it, it's little more than a scam, which whilst not actually illegal in what it does, is clearly intended to pull the wool over people's eyes to a rather large degree.I remember when I discovered the connection years back, I tried alerting potential bidders on a well known auction site - and was politely, but sternly advised by said auction site to STOP interfering. ...........The overall efforts of the FlightGear community should be applauded. :(Lance, agreed, and that community would undoubtedly benefit greatly if people with your expertise and talents became more involved. :( Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. November 15, 201015 yr Lance, agreed, and that community would undoubtedly benefit greatly if people with your expertise and talents became more involved. :(Well, Thanks for the nice words. I'm too busy messing up the FSX world to have a go elsewhere.
November 16, 201015 yr http://wiki.flightge...hp/FlightProSimNote that this is older and less current than even the current stable FGFS, let alone the unstable GIT repository. This is on top of the fact that they are basically scamming people in to buying re-branded open source freeware. Also does anyone else notice the name of the seller changing whenever the name of the re-brand changes? On a side note, this is why I never trust websites in that specific format, usually it's a scam. November 16, 201015 yr That's depressingly predictable... I had a good look over the FlightGear site, then went for a peek at Proflight. I see Proflight even used on their front page a lot of the text from FlightGear's site. I do think it's a bloody shame that people like that are able to live with themselves... I may buy discs of FlightGear just to compare with FS9. I like the idea of the money going to charity, too. [edited for ambiguity- DM]
