Hi all,Was hoping to get some help on the crashes and fatal errors I've been getting recently in FSX.I haven't been able to complete a flight in weeks... You stated you just installed Windows 7? Was that all you installed? Did you add any hardware? (Ram, video card, sound card, Processor, etc.) This error code your getting looks like it's trying to acesses some bad memory or a corrupted registry file. I'd suggest doing a clean reinstall of your PMDG product if not flight simulator all together.Good luck,

Hi Ryan,Thanks for quick response. I did not add any other hardware. This started after a clean install of Win 7, then drivers etc, some utilities (WinRAR and such)and then FSX and add ons following NickN's install guide.I was hoping not to have to reinstall everything..

Sander,While it could be a few causes, I would really look into a registry cleaner and maybe a clean install. I don't want to get into any of the specifics but the errors you've been showing reference a bad memory cell, possibly in the RAM, registry, or the file it's referencing. A clean install, then the registry cleaner should do the trick. If it does not, message me and we'll see if we can't solve this with a different approach.Regards,Ryan

Hi,Faulting application path: D:\Program FIles (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exeFaulting module path: D:\Program FIles (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\GAUGES\PMDG_MD11.DLLSo it looks like you installed FSX in the Program Files(86x) map of Win7. If you read carefully NickN ' s guide you know that one thing you don't do and that is installation of FSX in Program Files for several reasons. In the tread: DO NOT PARTITION A DRIVE AND PLACE A OS OR FSX ON A PARTITION OTHER THAN THE FIRST PHYSICAL PARITION OF THE DRIVE ALWAYS MAKE SURE THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 40-50% FREESPACE ON ANY PERFORMANCE DRIVE OR PARTITION (OS or FSX) NEVER PARTITION A RAID ARRAY - EVER! BEST SETUP IS TO PLACE FSX ON ITS OWN DEDICATED DRIVE WITH NO 2ND PARTITIONEdward Smeets

Well maybe. I've had FSX installed in the default Program Files(x86) location for a couple years with absolutely no problems. Lets see if the original poster has found his problem.

Actually I have FSX installed on a separate, dedicated harddrive. Windows is on another. So I have infact done what Nick says.. Installed on the first physical partition of the drive, and there's plenty of space left (300+ GB).Thanks for the tip, but that can't be the problem.I have found that I was sliding the traffic settings in FSX down and getting no results, but then I realized that UT2 overrides the settings in FSX. I have now screwed down the UT2 to 15% but have yet to test... I hope it will help. Will fly KORD - KJFK as soon as I have some time and let you know what happened.Oh, will also run the reg cleaner and have already defragged again..

Sander,Sounds good, I just hope it's not a memory leak. Update us on the results.Best of luck,

Hello Andrew. The MD11, along with other top quality aircraft, uses a lot of RAM.Without knowing about your system, I would suggest adding the following to the GRAPHICS section of FSX.cfg.:HIGHMEMFIX=1It will not hurt anything and if it doesn't work just remove it.Of course there are many causes. Its just the first one that I would try and fix first.Regards.
Will try that thanks. If it does not work I am going to upgrade to windows7 anyway just waiting for my wages hehe. Vista is poor with the new Warthog also so Im pretty sure its something to do with vista thats messed up.[Edit] Did it again 20min into flight, with HIGHMEMFIX=1 always when using the FMC. Back to the drawing board as they say :( Thanks for the advice anywayAndrew

Just to update on my situation. I seem to have solved my problems by uninstalling UT2 (Ultimate Traffic 2). I tried at first to reduce the number of ai that UT2 would use, but that didn't help at all. Now with UT2 gone I have finished a 9.5 hour flight from LSZH to TNCM! Just started (1:07 into the flight) a new one from KLAX to EGLL. Hopefully I will be able to complete this one too. Thanks for the tips!

Intresting, let me know how its goes. I also run UT2 with the MD-11 and get the PMDG_MD11.DLL error.Im going to try turning the traffic off and see what happens. Thanks for the heads up. Andrew

Well I just did a 2 stage flight EGKK to LFPO and then 1 hour on the stand and then a 2nd leg to EHAM all as one continues flight. Everything works and I even used Radar Contact 4.3 /Active Sky Evolution and flightsim commander 8 (awsome program btw). Total time in sim was 3 hours did many reivisions to the flight plan including 4 changes to the STAR runway as I kept getting runway changes hehe.HIGHMEMFIX=1 does not do much on my PC but I will leave it in there for now. Only thing I changed was turning Autogen off. Seems much much more stable now.Only thing thing that crashes the sim is changing the Destination in the FMS (100% repeatable PMDG_MD11.DLL error) , everything else is flawless. Great aircraft and a great trip, I didnt even make any mistakes with RC4.Andrew Simmons

Hi Andrew. Glad you are more stable.HIGHMEMFIX=1, allows access to more RAM.Reducing Autogen will/should free up RAM.Ergo, more stability. I have no idea why the MD should CTD when inputting a new destination? If you are doing numerous STAR amendments on route and its stable, you are in effect selecting new destinations, allbeit only the runways and the approaches?Anyway, happy flying.
Yes 3rd flight completed this morning EHAM to LOWW. thats 3rd flight in a row with no crashes as long as I dont have to change destinations everything is perfectly fine now. Getting windows 7 end of this week so we will see :(
