Networked AS 2012 - Am I doing anything wrong?
EdRaket replied to NoDnArB's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumDid you install the simconnect.msi on the client? You have to configure the ini+xml files mentioned in the documentation. Edward Smeets An update of AS2012 resolved the problem of disappearing a part of your screen. Look here on the forum for the update. Here it is. http://dreamcatcher.hifisim.com/ActiveSky2012_Update_B4448.zip Active Sky 2012 Revision Log SP1 B4448 - Fixed problem related to Cirrus handling that could result in excessive cloud clearing/shifting as well as temperature and pressure depiction issues - Fixed problem where an Airport (vs. weather station) would fail to bring up proper interpolation station information in the Wx Report screen - Fixed problem with certain Sky Night textures that would cause an unwanted bright area of sky in some cases - XGauge: Made MET and DST textual weather information background color darker and more opaque for easier readability with brighter background colors (XGauge must be updated by running XGauge Installation Wizard’s file copy and access check) - Changed Airplane Icon in Map/XGauge view for better visibility - Fixed problem in Wx Edit screen where entering fractional visibility in the METAR string, parsing and then applying would result in an unhandled exception - Added support for fractional visibility entry (i.e. 0.25 or ¼) in the Visibility text field of the Wx Edit screen - Fixed problem where right-clicking the MAP screen with no flight plan loaded would result in an unhandled exception (now an informational message is shown asking the user to first load a plan with departure and destination specified before adding waypoints) - Corrected Latitude/Longitude/Elevation of FALE station in the default-supplied database - Fixed problem with Cirrus_Overcast03 texture being improperly handled when creating or installing Snapshots in some cases - Fixed problem with Cirrus_Overcast03 texture failing to properly build in some cases which may result in black/gray rectangles being depicted instead of proper cirrus cloud sprites - Fixed problem with cirrus texture handling when used with Turkish language settings which would result in black/gray sky or rectangles - Fixed problem where certain water textures may fail to copy/install in some cases - Fixed problem where machine code generation could fail in some isolated cases causing unnecessary reactivations on a single system - Various documentation edits to further explain or better clarify certain elements - Fixed problem in Wx Edit screen where deleting the only cloud layer or last cloud layer could result in an unhandled exception - Improved DWC very high-altitude aloft temperature handling (between 50K and 90k ft) to avoid unrealistically-low temperatures - Fixed UI Screen Size problem that affected some users, causing the UI to be “cut off” and partially inaccessible - Changed handling of upgrade verification check to properly allow product name of ASE or ASA during ASE/ASA upgrades (previously ASE must have been chosen regardless of ASE/ASA product being upgraded from) - Fixed problem with interpolation of pressure in some areas (mainly near north or south pole) which could result in lower than expected pressure and resulting in higher than expected indicated altitudes (thus resulting in lower altitudes flown using standard 29.92/1013 Kollsman setting for high altitude flight) - Changed handling of DWC depiction processes in order to eliminate problematic condition where the area around the aircraft might depict a clear-cloud scenario when surrounding (and reported) conditions include clouds - Fixed interpolation issue with surface winds which could result in far-away stations having too much influence with wind direction/speed in some cases - Fixed location of DAUO station in distribution data (must be updated from server or manually added via edit stations to affect existing installation) - Added Airport/Data station ESNZ in local data for new distributions (must be updated from server or manually added via edit stations to affect existing installation) - Added automatic warning and de-selection of confliction option when ATC Wind Lock and Suppress on Ground options are both enabled (which would prevent proper wind updates and ATC lock operation) - Fixed problem with rain/precipitation not properly depicting below 0ft MSL - Enhanced behavior of voice ATIS/flightwatch so that duplicate Inches/MB reports in some METARS default to Inches instead of QNH during voice readbacks Changed handling of manual refresh or wx edit “Apply” or Drag and Drop so that the depiction process is reset and will immediately depict the requested/reported cloud conditions regardless of settings such as “Prevent Cloud Redraws”, which previously prevented visual cloud updates in DWC mode

Getting ready to install AS2012 on remote- Simconnect issues
EdRaket replied to cavaricooper's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumCarl,Once installed SP2 you have to configure 3 files,a XML,CFG and a INI. file that are in the simconnect folder you installed on the computer where AS2012 is located.2 files have to be installed on your computer were FSX is installedand one on your computer where AS212 is located. This is very welldocumented in de AS2012manual. I believe its at the end of the manual.Edward Smeets

Getting ready to install AS2012 on remote- Simconnect issues
EdRaket replied to cavaricooper's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumCarl,The Simconnect.MSI must only be installed on the server, ie the computer/laptop that will run ASA/ASE or AS2012. You have to confirm which version of FSX you have installed, the Gold version contains both Deluxe and Acceleration so you have to confirm which one you installed actually. The version I run is the Deluxe RTM.If you are not sure which version you installed ,you can install ADE9X Environment Checker. This utility works also for FSX and detects what you installed. You can find it here: http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/tools.phpGood luck,Edward Smeets

Temperatures not altering
EdRaket replied to Paul Reitman's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumI had this problem too today on a EHAM-LEPA flight with the PMDG MD11. I'd +42C on FL260 waypoint CIV.No ice was detected so no AI. After a while on FL360 temps were -23C.Edward Smeets

Semi garbled text
Jack,I had this for a couple of months ago. The solution for me was to take the PMDG MD-11 install DVD and started this. Then take the option "repair" and everything was fine after that.Edward Smeets

Been getting loads of crashes
Hi,Faulting application path: D:\Program FIles (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exeFaulting module path: D:\Program FIles (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\GAUGES\PMDG_MD11.DLLSo it looks like you installed FSX in the Program Files(86x) map of Win7. If you read carefully NickN ' s guide you know that one thing you don't do and that is installation of FSX in Program Files for several reasons. In the tread: DO NOT PARTITION A DRIVE AND PLACE A OS OR FSX ON A PARTITION OTHER THAN THE FIRST PHYSICAL PARITION OF THE DRIVE ALWAYS MAKE SURE THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 40-50% FREESPACE ON ANY PERFORMANCE DRIVE OR PARTITION (OS or FSX) NEVER PARTITION A RAID ARRAY - EVER! BEST SETUP IS TO PLACE FSX ON ITS OWN DEDICATED DRIVE WITH NO 2ND PARTITIONEdward Smeets

Beta 625 stutters in standard depiction mode
EdRaket replied to NGXfanatic's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumLast flight with the MD11 , I had no stutters after enabling DWC shut off ASE and start ASE and enabling Standard Mode . I got only microstutters on the runway on arrival and departure. The bad news is that I never get the good winds on arrival. The correct winds are there after 10 sec after touchdown.Standard ModeDynamic Rate of Change tried 30% + 50% Force Destination Wx zone enabledAutomatic Downloads 30min

Beta 625 stutters in standard depiction mode
EdRaket replied to NGXfanatic's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumThe sky begins to flash/stutter . In the past we could resolve this by disabling the green band for weather report at the top of the screen. Duration is at least 30 seconds or more.Edward Smeets

EdRaket replied to NGXfanatic's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumI have this problem also after installing 625. I never used DWC or something similar. I used the standard mode and there was a lot of stuttering and cloud popping also.Edward Smeets

How to set AA in FS9 and FSX for Nvidia's 2xx.xx drivers (now with working Transparency AA!)
Hi,After install of nvidia 258.96 driver and the tweaks with Nvidia Inspector I got a problem. When I'm going to the outside of the plane and go back to the VC , the PD of the MD11 won't refresh.Switching to 2D cockpit and back to VC solves the problem but this is not how it should be.Edward Smeets

I always mess things up.
Hi,To change the RW with the same STAR you've programmed you can do it so;- Press F-Plan on FMC- Go to the last waypoint of your STAR inthe FMC_ Press LSK abeam waypoint, now you see a display to select STAR- Press LSK abeam STAR , now you're on the STAR page- Press CLR button on the FMC and find the selected STAR on the left side of the FMC-Press LSK abeam the selected STAR - Press RW you want to land- Confirm In other words if you fly a STAR and RW, and you only want to change the RW, go in the FMC and deselect the STAR and choose another RWand confirm in the FMC.Edward Smeets
