November 26, 201015 yr Author Right now, I am completely fed up with FS9.I have no idea what happened, but something in that program has gone completely awry and it is all now FUBAR. I really don't klnow what happened, but standing at KJFK with the QW757 with everything default except AI, I get 5FPS! For crying out loud, 5FPS!. Previously, with UT USA and FSDT JFK active I still got between 10 and 15FPS, and then I also had 91% AI, both GA and airliners. I have no idea what went wrong. It can't be any of the scenery addons because I uninstalled them in the hope to get rid of the problem. I even rewinded REX, so to get all the original environmental textures back, but no dice. In other places the FPS is better, but it's still bad. I have no idea whatsoever what to do right now.All this started a few hours ago. I did not meddle with the AI. I only meddled with adding/removing scenery from the library, I did nothing else.I tried rebuilding the fs9.cfg but it didn't help. I am at the end of it. What the hell could have gone wrong so suddenly... I hope I do have to reinstall FS2004... With all my addons and all my configurations, it's take weeks to get everything back! I should note that at Aerosoft EHAM, in the middle of NL2000, the FPS, while not as bad as around JFK, also seems to be lower than usual. EDIT Reinstalled FS9. At KJFK framerates are once again normal... Now going to reinstall the addons one at a time. Hopefully, nothing will break. Making a backup of the clean FS9. November 27, 201015 yr Author Well, complete awesomeness. After reinstalling FS, I slowly added my addons, every time starting up FS so that it can rebuild its scenery library. Now, I have FSDT JFK, Aerosoft Manhatten, Mega Scenery NY and Imaginesim KEWR, and I have a great 25FPS with the QW757 and PSS777 (no other planes as yet installed). I am thrilled. Performance is at least twice as good compared to what I had before reinstalling, and I'm not sure why. I actually think its because of REX. I'm installing that with the lowest settings possible, so that the FPS impact will be minimal. We'll see what happens. But I have what I want: my ultimate NYC experience!Ya know, Imaginesim's KEWR really isn't such a great scenery, but landing and taking off with manhattan in view is great. I've experienced a drop in fps as well and am considering doing the same myself. I've done a defrag, but that doesn't solve the problem. If there is a factual reason, I'd love to know it.Jim D.
November 28, 201015 yr Author After reinstalling at least five timnes, I found the culprit: FSUIPC. For some reason, the settings of FSUIPC, after calibrating my Saitek hardware in it, caused a massive FPS drop in all of my sim. Reinstalling FSUIPC so that I have clean settings has restored my FPS to a rather phenomenal rate. I get very good FPS now almost everywhere I come in the world, doesn't matter if its busy NYC, beautiful NL2000 covered Holland or quiet Greenland. I'm going to see when and how the settings of FSUIPC get fried, and why it interferes so much with the FPS. It must happen after closing and re-opening FS2004, because while tweaking, the FPS is fine. I actually think it's a combination of scenery adjustment and calibrating my hardware in FSUIPC. I really don't know why that could be a problem, but fact is that it happens - and it happened five times.I should also add that I installed smaller REX textures (the lowest res instead of consequently tye highest. In all honesty, I don't see enough of a difference in order to make it worthwhile the FPS hit. I guess it comes with the package. FS's amazing cuystomizability is also its weakest spot. You can make or break FS with one silly thing. Of course, in my case, it isn't so silly. it's actually something major and I hope I will be able to use FSUIPC to program my Saitek hardware. If not, well... it basically means I can't really use the throtle quardants proparly... November 29, 201015 yr Good to see that Megascenery New York works fine in combination with FSDT's JFK at no FPS cost, Thralni.I toyed with the idea of purchasing Megascenery New York, but kept putting it off because I was unsure if the Megascenery JFK and Manhattan portions of the scenery would interfere with FSDT's JFK and Aerosoft's Manahattan. Question : Was it necessary for you to identify and disable or exclude the Megascenery files covering Manhattan and JFK to prevent such scenery clashes, or is it sufficient to place FSDT and Aerosoft versions higher up in the FS9 scenery priority list, in order to auomatically over-ride the Megascenery files of those areas ? Thanks for any advice you can offer.Tony Best regards from Tony, at the helm of the flying desk.

I simply have FSDT over Aerosoft over Megascenery in the scenery priority list. Works like a champ! Aerosoft over FSDT over Megascenery would probably work also.gwillmot
November 29, 201015 yr Yeeeeehaw ! I'm placing my order for Megascenery New York right now. Much obliged for this confirmation, Gwillmot. Best regards from Tony, at the helm of the flying desk.
November 29, 201015 yr Author NOTE: You do have to make Aerosoft manhattan compatible with MegaSceneryNY yourself. Aerosoft released a patch to make it work. You'll have to delete several files and change some others. The patch's instructions are quite clear, so you shouldn't have a problem. FSDT JFK is fully compatible, however. Just make sure you put it above MegaSceneryNY in the scenery library. All I could find was some mention of the misplaced George Washington Bridge.gwillmotIt does exist though. I installed it, so there is no real need to "confirm": it exists. It was made by Andreas Kozma, the creator of Aerosoft's Manhattan scenery, to align it perfectly with MegaSceneryNY. However, I am unable to find the patch. I have forgotten completely where I got it from. However, as you can read in the article where I linked too, the patch does exist.http://www.megascenery.com/genfaq.htmI'm very sorry... I have been searching for the last hour but I have no recollection whatsoever of where I got that patch. Ther only thign I can recommend is to post on the Aerosoft forums and ask where the patch is. I have completely forgotten...
