Alsace - France VFR

Featured Replies

Hi all,For those of you who like low level VFR flying, France VFR have now released their planned Alsace scenery. Having purchased every France VFR scenery addon available and always eagerly awaiting the next offering from them, I have to say that their scenery products seem to get better and better all the time and, unlike some developers, they have not forgotten FS9. In my opinion France VFR products must be the best regional scenery addons available, with what seems like a combination of almost photoreal scenery and very generous autogen. Last night I flew the full length of this scenery, an area which I know well and love, (from Strasbourg to Basle) in a Carenado Piper PA-28-236 Dakota, with an average frame rate of over 70fps from the virtual cockpit. Even flying around Strasbourg and Basle-Mulhouse Airports (both also from France VFR) I was getting frame rates in the mid 50s. I don't know how some developers can achieve such frame rates whilst others will result in struggling frame rates with anything other than default aircraft. I would encourage FS9'ers who enjoy low level VFR flying and who haven't got any FranceVFR products, to give one a try and I am sure you will be hooked - and, by the way, I do not have any connection with FranceVFR or indeed France! FranceVFR however deserve our support.BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 2 x 1000GB + 1 x 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; CH Pro Yoke and PedalsPowering 281GB of fs9!

I wanted to ask: if you buy Alsace, do you get the Basel-Mulhouse airport scenery they did with it, or do you have to purchase that seperately?

HiI cannot answer that question as I previously had purchased the FVFR Basle-Mulhouse airport scenery and so it, as well as the FVFR Strasbourg Airport scenery, were already installed - however, I doubt it!Bill

The only knock on the photo stuff they do is that they do not lnclude night scenery. For example the Paris photo scenery, when flying at night I think, what the heck happened to the city of lights?!?!Their airport stuff is great though.

I am very tempted by this as I own Basle-Mulhouse airport scenery. Are there seasonal textures?

No - summer textures only - all the details are on the simmarket page.http://secure.simmarket.com/francevfr-alsace-vfr-fs2004.phtml

Well there are building lights visible at night in the FVFR Paris series as you can see from the attached shots and you can see some of the landmarks, such as the Eifel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, the Louvre etc quite well. OK the street lighting is not visible but there are enough lights in the building autogen to give a reasonable degree of realism I think.Bill

Ah yes I missed that at first look, thanks.Such a pity, as one would come out of snowy Switzerland...perhaps they will upgrade it at some point, photosceneries are a LOT of work.
