November 26, 201015 yr Hi,I installed nVidia Inspector (apparently nHancer won't work with my 260.099 drivers?) and, not finding any post to say FS9 should be done any differently, set FS9 as recommended here:file:///I:/nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated-v1932_topic36586.htmlBefore doing that, I made a video of the problems I have been having (PC specs are per my signature) - link below (problems only really show properly if you see the video in full screen). Now, things have improved rather, but I still have the same problems - lines (airports markings, joins between flaps and wing on a/c, etc.) that literally 'go to pieces' when there's the slightest movement and run around like rodents (familiary to most here I am sure). Even the irregularities in the tarmac shimmer. I wondered if there's any way to minimise this? I have experimented with mips but the setting makes little difference, so I have left it at 5.http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v68/martinlest/?action=view¤t=VHHH.mp4Also, why do the airport windows jump about like this (Thomas Kwong's VHHH)? I don't remember this happening at the same airport when I had FS9 on XP 32-bit.Many thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 27, 201015 yr Hello,All this is very sad ...On the other hand it comforts me because of not having done to upgrade and continue to use it without any problems WinXp SP3 32-bit ...For the rest I hope that specialists in modern OS :( can help you ...Regards.Gus.

November 27, 201015 yr Is your Vertical Sync turned to "force on"? It should be, might help...Follow these steps, to configure your GPU with "Nvidia Inspector", cause Nhancer DON'T work with new nvidia drivers.http://www.simforums.com/forums/fsx-and-nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated_topic36586.html My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....
November 27, 201015 yr Author Yes, I agree up to a point, but the plus is that (for example) I now get over 40fps arriving at Aerosoft's Heathrow in a PMDG 747, after a long flight, with 95% traffic and all sliders at max. On my last PC I literally staggered onto the runway in single figure frame rates - then half the time an OoM if I was flying in an aircraft like the PMDG.If you looked at that Hong Kong video, that's an extreme example, most aiports don't wobble around like that. Maybe later graphics drivers will iron out prroblems over the next several months..Swings and roundabouts I suppose, but on balance the new rig runs FS9 SO much better than my older XP 32-bit one; it's certainly not a question of a 'pretty interface'!Yes, thanks, I followed that guide and have things set as advised.Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 27, 201015 yr Martin - I had a similar problem with texture shimmer when using Thomas Kwong's VHHH, and I'm on Vista 32 with 197 series drivers and nHancer. One possible solution is to open and re-save each individual texture file using Martin Wright's Dxtbmp utility (available at http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/ ). Just re-save them as Extended Bitmap files, and your shimmering should be reduced or even eliminated. I recommend making a backup of the texture file before proceeding, as the textures for the light poles gave some odd results using this method and I had to revert to the originals. There is a utility in the Avsim library that can update the texture files in batches, but I've never used it, preferring to convert them one at a time. It's painstaking work, but I've been very happy with the results at VHHH, Aerosoft's Bremen, most Imaginesim airports, and Overland's Kansai. Give it a try! John G.
November 28, 201015 yr dallyborr, thanks for that link. it completely fixed my jagged edges I was having with my GTS450 card. I had been tweaking NVInspector for the last 2 months without finding the right combination....until following that link!
November 28, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the idea re. DXTBmp - a programme I use at least once a week for one reason or another (do you also know of Convimx.exe (Extended Image Format Converter) - converts bmps to extended bitmaps (or others) as a batch job. Very useful indeed.I'll try this, with the Convimx it will just take a couple of minutes. Did you also get the terminal windows shaking up and down like that? I had the same VHHH in XPSP2 32-bit and I certainly don't remember them dancing like that. It's worse than the shimmer. (As I say, most of my airports behave perfectly (or at least almost so) - this is an exception in that it is 'behaves' so badly. Will report back after I tried the texture changes. Thanks.Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
November 30, 201015 yr Author I'm afraid editing the bmp files made no difference..M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
