WOAI Delta 2010 package

Featured Replies

I hate mergers especially loosing Northwest but we are in real need of a new Delta pack that reflects the merger. The regional carriers flying the Delta flag like Compass Airlines needs an update as well. Just a humble request so our sim reflects 2011 not 2008. Before someone says it I wish I had the talent and time to do it myself but both are on limited supply on my end these days. United Airlines and all their regionals would be the next major work needed. These mergers not only create havok in the real world but virtually as well as creating these packages is no easy task.

You can always go to Alpha India's website for current flightplans (as of Summer 2010) for both the mainline and regional Delta carriers. Unlike WOAI, you have to get your hands dirty downloading paints/models and using TTools to convert the flighplan files into a .bgl file. But once you learn that process (and I suggest trying out a simple carrier with few a/c types first) you will no longer need to wait for WOAI to publish their work. http://www.alpha-ind...d=51&Itemid=242I started manually installing these kinds of user submitted flightplans early this year and I'm glad I took the time to learn the intricacies of this process. I now have summer 2010 schedules for most of my US airlines, including ALL of the regionals! It's also personally satisfying to learn about the interaction of these flight plans and the models in your simobjects folder, and when looking for repaints you learn plenty about the carrier's fleet, something you can't get from a one click and forget WOAI package. Nothing wrong with WOAI's ease of use of course, but it takes alot of effort on their end to publish those files, hence the scarcity of current WOAI fps for the majors as opposed to the DIY route used by Alpha India and other user submitted sources. And with Alpha India packages, there is a "repaints" text file that lists what models/paints you need and gives you the urls to directly download them from Avsim or Flightsim.com, saving you from searching yourself.Regarding Delta 2010, Boris LeVeve (one of the most respected painters out there) even has a website that is a portfolio of his paints hosted by Avsim, which gives you easy access to finding the Delta/Delta Connection paints you need, and he basically has painted all of Delta's fleet with the new livery:http://www.borisrepaints.com/category/things/delta-air-lines-things/Try it , you just may become hooked!

Thanks, if I get time I'll look into this. One thing is being forgotten here, making the WOAI package is only half the story. All the airports that Northwest flew to will need to be adjusted. New Delta gate assignments need to be taken into consideration as well. So telling people to make their own AI package is great but there's allot of other work that needs to be done. There's so much to do with all the AFCADS that a WOAI package goes along way in reducing the overall time it takes to get everything right. We'll end up having to do this all over again with United/Continental in another year once those schedules all shake out. A WOAI package helps allot like I said if nothing else for it's ease of use. I'm sure people can do all this work themselves but we have a community here for a reason and that's to help each other out. If I get some time I'll look and put something together for other to use and offer it freely. Anything that reduces this whole process for others helps allot with these huge mergers. I doubt I'll have the time anytime soon so I'm hoping someone with time does a package.

I wouldn't get into it if I were you, once you get hooked you end up spending countless hours adding more and more plans, updating new repaints, etc. Spend more time doing that than flying!

Amen! But I had finished tweaking FSX to get the best performance out of my system, and I really had nothing left to tweak! It's a hell of time killer, I'm obsessed with getting flightplans for obscure, GA or any other airlines not found in my Ultimate Traffic 2 or WOAI packages, and its always fun to see the fruits of my labor with airlines in the proper paints at the appropriate spots at airports. With regards to the idea of user's sharing these kinds of flightplans integrated with the repaints, distribution is tricky because the repaint authors will not allow them to be packaged with the flightplans for distribution (even as freeware). They have to be manually installed because each person's simobjects folder containing the models paints is different, for example the [flightsim.xxx] headers in the aircraft cfgs. That is why WOAI packages are brilliant because their installer smartly installs those paints effortlessly into your simobject folder, and even installs the base a/c model if it is missing. Regarding the airport afcads, just fire up and afcad editor and tackle your favorite airports one at a time. For Delta/Northwest, you could just change the gates that read "NWA" to "DAL,NWA" (and likewise, DAL to DAL,NWA) to allow both carriers to use the gates as they should in RL after the gate consolidations.I haven't even thought about the United/Continental scenario yet, I think I'll wait a few months for that to run its course. But already, you can find AI repaints in the new "half assed" united livery.

I have no clue what so ever of what I have to do to get the new plans. Can someone explain it to me? If not, can you just send me the aircraft files and flight plans for easy installation if thats necessary? Thanks

How about Vision Airlines? Got any details on them. I just started to look into the KGPT schedules and see VA are a frequent visitor with flights to Miami on a regular basis. Thanks.Ray

Soooo true! It's easy to become obsessed with having "perfect" AI traffic...but the results when I do get around to flying are awesome! :(

Does anyone happen to have the old Delta Connection WOAI package? If so, I am interested. I just assign the Delta Colored planes to NW flight routes showing Delta planes instead of NW. So if anyone has it please let me know.

WOAI has asked users not to re-distribute packages between users.

Hey guys, Can someone point me in the way of finding out how to make my own AI, I have some time on my hands and would like to get my hands dirty a bit and start making my own AI. Im looking for a tutorial or a how to make ai. Thank you in advance.

Is there a compliler out there that will convert the WOAI models to native FSX flight plans?NM, apparently I missed the 2nd post.... doh!
