December 7, 201015 yr Moderator Finnaly I´ve made it through the guide and most things went well, but now I have the problem, that the planes aren´t showing up. I did all as mentioned in the guide, but I do not know what my fault was. Can anyone help?I used to have a bunch of MIAW stuff installed in FSX and it worked fine for me just installing it manually and using an FSX ADE file for the effected airports. Same went for me as well using the WOAI MIAW stuffThe only thing I did is convert the included traffic bgls to FSX format using a free tool called AIFPC. Any other traffic bgl converter will work as well that converts FS9 traffic files to FSX format. If you didn't convert the traffic bgls and left them in FS9 format it could cause the planes not to show up. This has happened to me once or twice when installing a large number of WOAI traffic packages and failing to convert one of the included traffic bgls to FSX format. December 7, 201015 yr Just a question: Are the military ai works packages http://www.militaryaiworks.com/ also for FSX or do they only work in Fs9?I have over 7,000 aircraft texture sets, more than 400 aircraft types, and approximately 2,200 individual *.bgl files for airline schedules - all FS9 files. Not one aircraft has been invisible. The problem with using FS9 AI aircraft in FSX does not reside in either the aircraft design or the flight plans. The problem is you can't use FSX-developed flight plans and FPs designed using Traffic Tools (FS9). This is especially true with the default FSX traffic file. Get rid of that and you're home free.Other reasons for aircraft not showing:Aircraft.txt file (flight plans) entries not matching Aircraft.cfg file "title" entries - these two statements must be EXACTLY the same.Aircraft models missing from the aircraft folderAircraft texture set files placed in incorrect aircraft folders - mismatch of modelsfb
December 7, 201015 yr Moderator This is especially true with the default FSX traffic file. Get rid of that and you're home free.Like you I also have a bunch of FS9 AI from WOAI, custom built, and other, but removing just the traffic file didn't work for me unless I also remove the boat traffic bgl as well or I would lose boat traffic if I was running an FS9 traffic bgl. Obviously I didnt want the default AI any longer, but I wanted to keep the boat traffic and the only way I could run both was to convert the FS9 traffic bgl to FSX format. Are you running the boat traffic as well with FS9 traffic bgls, or did you remove that bgl as well? In the end for me at least, if I wanted to keep boat traffic and custom air traffic all the bgls had to be in the same format or I would lose the boats. Although if you dont care about the boat traffic then its a lot easier to just remove or name that bgl than convert a huge amount of traffic bgls. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 7, 201015 yr There seems to be some undue confusion regarding FS2004 format Traffic files and FSX Traffic files.FSX can use either format - but not at the same time. If FSX finds even one FS2004 format Traffic file, it will use it and block the use of all FSX format aircraft Traffic files you may have. Many of us use the very fine conversion utility which is found on the File menu of Don Grovestines excellent AI Flight Planner program. It will find and convert FS2004 Traffic files quickly and easily. Have it append FSX to the converted Traffic file name(s) and then be sure to delete the old FS2004 Traffic files. You can get the latest version of Don's program here:http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/Hope that may clarify things a bit.
