December 24, 201015 yr I just purchased the Captain Sim 727 a few hours ago. However, I don't have any sounds in the cockpit. I can hear the engine, but sounds from switches are all missing. I also don't have the "ding" for the passenger signs. I've found a few threads on the Captain Sim forums regarding this issue via Google, but their forums are down for maintenance. Does anyone have a solution? Jon E.
December 24, 201015 yr Author Load the 727 twice and you'll receive the sounds on the second attempt then.I'm still not getting any sounds by doing that. Jon E.
December 24, 201015 yr Modify the sound.ini file in the FSX\Captain_Sim\727 folder. Back it up first. Just in case you mess it up. Change these lines:SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=1toSoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=0Regards,Bob
December 24, 201015 yr I am having the same problem. I posted a thread in the UNOFFICIAL Capsim forum. I have tried the sound file fixes that the other poster mentioned, changing the values from 1 to 0 for those entries. No change. Hopefully we can get this working, because otherwise this plane is amazing. David Norman Paul
December 24, 201015 yr You need to put VC library files in your fsx folder, let me have a quick look to see if i can find the exact file names.EDIT: I couldnt find the exact file name as the captain sim forums are down, but I believe it was called msvcr71.dll. Put it in your root fsx folder. You might also want to put it your Captain_Sim folder in the fsx folder, but I'm not 100% sure its needed there
December 24, 201015 yr UPDATE: I got it working by making the sound file changes and then loading the plane, then reloading it via the File menu. All my sounds seem to work now. The one that was most annoying to not have is the altitude alert. David Norman Paul

December 24, 201015 yr Here's a long thread about sound problems on the 757 (may help on the other models too) but the solution is described there. http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1242905995Seems like David summarized some stuff there. Find it at the end of page 1 and if it doesn't help, just read on. Make sure to just copy that file, don't move it. The origin was the System32 folder if I remember correctly. But the thread helps you there.

December 25, 201015 yr haow can we navigate these kind of birds? no fmc, no monitors? Cenk Demir Besiktas JK 1903
December 25, 201015 yr ADF and VOR are your friends there. CS also added a GPS popup but I prefer to drive those old birds with the Civa INS (freeware). See the CS forums for instructions on how to add it.Be aware, ADF and VOR are still needed, so practicing some old school navigation skills is recommended (and fun). There's also a small mod around which enables the default GPS to drive the Autopilot. Surely helps the beginners or the non INS lovers. :(
December 25, 201015 yr Hi!Where is that mod that let the GPS control the autopilot? (my loaded FSX flight plan e.g)Best RegardsPer
December 25, 201015 yr Find it in the 727 section there http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1261409734. The NAV/GPS Button Instructions are the important things for you then. For the guys with some INS interest, this one surely is helpful 727 with double Civa INS - short how to. You can combine both solutions of course, but this may take some other placement of the buttons. So I recommend either one or the other solution.
