January 7, 201115 yr Disc 2 has what looks like all the .wav files and one which could possibly be helpful. it's path is:- FS9\Disc2\MSGAME6.cab and the file is USEnglishASOS.gvp. You could try extracting that or the other .wav files if you get no other ideas.Colin BEdit:- Contents file is :- fs9cddir.zip which I got here (thanks to OPA)More files which might apply are MSGAME4.cab\USEnglishSmall.gvp and MSGAME5.cab\USEnglishBig.gvpYes, but I didn't mean the voice files themselves, if that was the issue the relevant information would surely still be displayed on screen? FS must have some sort of work of reference so that it knows which centre's area you are in at a given moment, and that is where I'm thinking the problem may be.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
January 7, 201115 yr Is your scenery.cfg complete? Check to see if it is missing an entry near the beginning for a continent/area. I use a test cfg file for trying new sceneries and have just been trying to get a Keflavik scenery to work. I lost coastlines but, more importantly, ils and other radio aids in the area as well as all controlled and restricted areas. I found that my test scenery.cfg was missing the area for EURW and as soon as I restored that entry everything returned to normal. It might help or it might not but I hope my latest effort to help doesn't upset John too much. January 7, 201115 yr Author HelloI do know what your problem is, its just that the section from the EDVP mentions a damaged voicepak which I thought might be your problem. I am sorry it didn't work for you.cheers AndyAndy,I am sorry if I came across as rude or ungrateful. That is not the way I intended to be, and I apologize for it. I am very grateful for everybody's help thus far, and will continue to try any suggestions that anybody may have. Some other things to try! Have you tried re-setting your 'ASSIGNMENTS' in FS9 to there default'sNobody seems to no why ,but they can change without any user input..It happens to me on quite a regular basis and then normal Key functions such as talking to ATC etc will not work correctly. Its at that point I simply choose the 'Reset to Default' option in ASSIGNMENTS and I am good to go again.PS If you know all this stuff then I apologize ,In this situation its best to try all options.PPS Have you tried letting FS9 rebuild its CFG file?If not then simply remove the current one to a safe location.Start FS9 (it will automatically generate a new CFG )and see if that has any effect. (All settings will be set to the original default ,but it doesn't take long to set them back to your own custom favourites)Anyway If that doesn't work just put the original FS9 CFG file (the one you saved) back and a least that's one other option you have tried and can rule out.CHEERS AndyIt's funny you mention this, Andy, because this did happen to me the other day. I went into FS9 to do a quick flight, and none of my assignments were the way they should be. A quick reset, and all was right again. I haven't had this problem since then or, for that matter, ever.I am going to try to find my FS9.cfg file and create a new one and see what happens. I'll let you know how it goes.I think it's Brian Collins who has done an Excel file of the FS9 discs contents. Search for his name to try to find the zip.Disc 2 has what looks like all the .wav files and one which could possibly be helpful. it's path is:- FS9\Disc2\MSGAME6.cab and the file is USEnglishASOS.gvp. Colin BColin, I just took a look at my Scenery.cfg file, and all appears well. The areas are numbered in order 1-41, and everything seems to be there from what I can tell. Took a test flight in FS9, and still no Center to talk to. Thanks again guys for all your help. It is much appreciated,Adam
January 7, 201115 yr Author Hello again,Well, I tried getting rid of my FS9.cfg and having FS9 build a new one on start-up, but it didn't solve the problem, so I replaced it with my old FS9.cfg. I've been thinking hard about this one - with a full understanding of your description I'm thinking there is going to be no easy solution. It seems to me that somewhere deep in I-don't-know-where in FS's file system, a database of centres, their geographical locations and their wavelengths has been lost or damaged. Unless anybody knows which file this might be, I don't see any choice but a reinstall. As a first step I would take a copy of your entire setup and then reinstall to the original directory. That should over-write any corrupt files with original ones (and replace any missing ones) but it will also over-write any original files that have been deliberately modified (some add-on sceneries diatate that you should do this) so it might not be a perfect solution. But it's worth a try.But perhaps hang on in there for a while in case somebody can identify the file I'm talking about.JohnJohn,I am interested in trying this, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean. How do I go about doing this? Thanks,Adam
January 7, 201115 yr Probably not related but if you scroll down in this Radar Contact thread you'll see a complaint of being handed off from departure directly to approach:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/323197-exiting-as65-after-start/

However, it did have a link to a Registry Fix tool, which I downloaded and ran. It didn't fix the problem, but was worth a try.Anybody else have any other ideas? Thanks very much,Adam
