Virtual Copilot in FSX

Featured Replies

Good evening from Germany my fellow simmers, I just wanted to change some values in my FSX.cfg and I found an enty called VirtualCopilot. This is the full enty:[VirtualCopilot]VirtualCopilotActive=0Does anyone know what that entry does, if it´s enabled? Thanks for the help.

Best regards, Steffen

Hi,When the value is changed to VirtualCopilotActive=1 means when you load an aircraft the VC will load instaed of the 2D cockpit. Of course it is recommended to always start with the 2D cockpit.CheersJulian

Um, nope... You're confusing that with Virtual Cockpit...VirtualCopilotActive= used to enable/disable flying tips.

Thanks for the explanation. I think it´s somehow useless, or?

Where is that documented? I've been on the same install of FSX for going on 3 years in April and have always started in the VC and never had an issue with an a/c starting from the VC, be it PMDG, LDS, etc.

Would you like me to search through every FS forum and find where i read it ? Take me a month of sundays. There is thousands and thousands of do's and don'ts in FSX, they are not all going to be correct are they ? Including starting in a Virtual Cockpit. Funny you mentioned PMDG, because I think that's where i read it.

The only reason I asked it because that is one I had never heard of or seen mentioned in years of reading the FS9 and FSX forums and I don't remember ever seeing it mentioned in the manuals that come with PMDG products or in their forum for that matter, in fact their JS41 doens't even have a 2D cockpit to start in. The only thing I have seen mentioned is that some complex aircraft suggest that you start in the default Cessna, then switch to their a/c, but I dont recall seeing anything about starting in a 2D panel. No need to search thru thousands of posts for it, I was just asking since I didn't remember ever seeing it mentioned anywhere. I'll take a search and see if I can locate it.Regards

I think you jogged my memeory ie the Cessna. Mind you, what I read maybe superceded now. If I cannot remember where I read it, it must have been a long time ago. Either that or I am losing it :biggrin:CheersJulian

Last time this was an issue was with FS9 in the early days, some aircraft needed to start in the 2D cockpit to set gauges up IIRC. Never an issue with FSX which as we all know was designed to be able to fly without a 2D cockpit.

However, will we come to the conclusion, that it´s not really useful to have it enabled?@yellowjack: I´m remembering the same, that some planes had to be accessed through the 2Dpanel.
