RC not working

Featured Replies

Morning guys, i have just built a new rig for FSX, everything is up to date, addons and hardware i installed rc v4.3 for fsx but it never responds. I open rc, start fsx then start rc. I was abel to get a wx report once but couldnt contact ground but now i cant even tune atis. I run ase in direct weather control and have unregistered fsuipc 4.6.6.1 installed. Last night rc would not even close down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but no joy. Im running win 7 64. Any ideas what im doing wrong guys? Thanks in advanced

Hi Christos,I don't have Windows7 or ASE so my help is limited. Try using FSX's weather service for now to remove ASE from the equation. See if that makes any difference. Please advise where you have FSX and RC4 installed. The C:\Program Files area is not recommended as it causes write permissions problems. C:\FSX and C:\RC4 would be my choice. You don't need a registered version of FSUIPC4 for RC4.

Hello Ray, firstly thanks for your reply, as for location, i have fsx in the default path:C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X and RC the same. User accounts are off but i did notice two folders one named rcv4 and the other rcv4x, dont know if this has anything to do with it. I will try without ASE and report back.Regards

You chose to install RC4 twice. Once for FS9 and once for FSX. Make sure you're running the correct RC4 executable. For FSX you must run the one in RCV4X. That may be why RC4 isn't responding. You also have to run RC4 in Administrator Mode in Win7 environments. Right click the shortcut and choose that option. That may help with having both programs installed in Program Files.

Check your keyboard assignments in RC4 Chris. They may have changed with the new install. Let's see if we can get some communication with FS and RC4 before adding ASE.

No change Ray, in the keyboard options the numbers box's are ticked, the ctrl and shift buttons are unticked, i even checked the ctrl + shift buttons incase the commands had been hijacked by something else but still no worky. Should i send a log?

Hi Chris,After changing the keyboard assignments I believe you have to restart FS. Did you do that? If so and it still isn't working then a log may be the best bet.

After installing RC did you update FSUIPC4 as follows?------------------Get the base FSUIPC version from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmland then interim update from the modules link on this page:http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/FSUIPC now self installs initially based on your registry entry for your FS path. Check that with this free utility:FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB) from http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library-------------------If you are running on a network get the WideFS updates as well. Also if changing any RC keyboard assignments you must restart RC for them to take effect. Some here have had resolutions by having the 'run as admin' property set in the shortcut to start RC under advanced properties.Lastly, an FS panel window must have focus to detect your RC keystrokes, not the FSUIPC blue RC window. Click anywhere on your panel view before entering RC keystrokes.

Ok, after some more testing this is what i have found, i load up fsx and after about half a min i get a 3-4 second pause/freeze, dont know what this is but thats what happens, After that i load rc and start it, now after that freeze happens im able to contact clearance and tune atis, when ive programmed the plane and ready to taxi i press shift+p for pushback and then rc stops working??? I wouldnt have a clue if this is rc related, tbh i havent a clue fullstop! HELP!@ Ronzie, i have the latest fsuipc and update in modules but i may remove it and install it again just to eliminate that

Well that didnt work, oh yea, i removed the UIAutomationcore.dll as win7 64 was crashing, would this have anything to do with rc freezing?
