Congrats, be sure to pick a good window seat. I was on a British Airway 747 from London Heathrow to Bangalore India (I believe they switched to a 777 recently); before the flight I studied the seating chart and the expected routings before I reserved my seat to be sure I was slightly behind the wing and with a good view of the departure from Heathrow. The view matched what I see in the PMDG queen perfectly, I just wish with FSX it would simulate the deep bass booming sound of the engines at full thrust behind the wings as heard in real life. It amazing how loud the engine/wind sounds are in real life, you lose 1/4 of your hearing for a day after a flight!

I've been flying the BA 744 EGLL-OBBI every month for a few years now. Personally I would recommend sitting in front of the engines if you realy want to hear the distinct RR sound at spool up and thrust reduction, also the grinding noise you hear in front of the engines when the fan blades go supersonic on take off is awesome! either way wherever you sit you'll have fun :)Here's a few videos showing the sound difference behind or front of the engine.Of course in real life it's a hundred times better!

Good for you, I am jealous. My 747 experience was on 741/742s back in the 1980s. In the middle seat of 10, I think LOL.
