Black screen when alt-tabbing

Featured Replies

You know what's strange? When I first start up a flight, I can alt-tab as much as I want and I won't get a black screen, but if I alt-tab 10-15 mins into a flight I get a black screen. It's very annoying because there's nothing I can do but end the task at that point, and there goes my entire flight. This can't be a driver issue, because I have had this problem with many different driver versions.Specs: Win 7 64bit, HD5970 latest drivers, and 8 gigs of ram. What could possibly be causing this and is there a fix for it? Thanks!

HirgabThere was along post here : http://forum.avsim.net/topic/261833-again-corrupted-graphics-black-screen-after-alttab/.The solution seemed to be use "windowed" mode or ALT + ENTER!!The MS kb: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925722What is you cpu and mobo?Any tweaks in the fsx.cfg file?Just make sure that you are actually using the ATI driver and not the default windows driver (under device manager video card properties).Regards :( PeterH

dunno about the cause, but some things you should try are pressing alt+tab to go from fullscreen to windowed mode. That might force a refresh. Or, if that doesn't work (or if you're already in windowed mode normally) just resize the window (not minimize and maximize, but double-click the title bar or use the Restore Down button between the minimize and close buttons) - this will definitely force a refresh.beaten by one minute!! :)

Thanks all, I will try your suggestions.

As per NickN use only the "windows key" (that's the one between the ctrl and the Alt keys) to get from FSX to the desktop. To get back click on the FSX button on the taskbar and then hit "the return key". Works like a charm.Wolfgang

I don't have a "return key"....when I go to my list of tasks using control alt delete, there is a "Switch to" key...is that what you mean?

I think he means, hit your enter key on your keyboard? yes?

Ciao!

Alt+ENTER (switch to windowed mode), alt+ENTER (back to full screen with the image showing again).

This happens to me a lot as well when I switch to other programs while in the sim in full-screen mode. What fixes it for me is to alt-tab through all the open programs 1 time until the FSX button is highlighted, then hit enter and it comes back most of the time. I just repeat these steps if it doesn't and it always returns eventually.
