February 19, 201115 yr Hi Everyone,I have been having a weird problem with my GoFlight hardware "disappearing" after a while in Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. I've installed the most recent GF drivers (W7-64 compatible, they claim), and it still happens. The hardware modules will just vanish from recognition by the GF Config program and by FSX/FS9, and I have to reboot my system t get them to come back. Also, sometimes the lights on various modules stop working. I have their full airliner captain setup with dual EFIS controls. Has anyone else had these problems? (I can't remember if it did this in WinXP Pro 32 bit or not....haven't used it since 11/09). Thanks for any help anyone can provide...Jim Jim BlakeCaptain, SWA Virtual AirlinesReal World C172 Pilot, AOPA #06034701
February 20, 201115 yr Try USB Deview free utility to diagnose and track what your USB devices are up to. You can also force disconnect/reconnects to see if that fixes your problem.Cheers,- jahman.
February 20, 201115 yr Author Thanks Jahman, I'll try it out.Jim Jim BlakeCaptain, SWA Virtual AirlinesReal World C172 Pilot, AOPA #06034701
February 20, 201115 yr Could be a power save issue. Dig into power settings of your OS and have a look. Bjorn "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
February 21, 201115 yr Author Hi Folks,It's not a power save issue, as I have my system settings to always be on. The problem apparently started with Win7-64 bit, and didn't exist in WinXP Pro 32 bit, so unless/until GoFlight creates drivers to handle this situation, I'll just live with it. Everything reconnects and works correctly if I reboot my system....it is what it is.Thanks anyway,Jimps - I downloaded and tried usbdview x64...not really a help so far... February 22, 201115 yr Hi JimI'd advise you to carefully recheck your power settings. Win7(64) is very agressive in that regard. For example, although I had no power saving scheme set I needed to go to each USB connection and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power"Best,Jim Harnes
February 27, 201115 yr Jim,I'm in the same boat as you are right now. Just got my Goflight MCP Pro in with the A19Fw and I'm running Win7 64bit Ultimate and no matter if its FSX or FS9 the MCP looses control/freezes/disconnects/stops responding. I'm sure it's not a power issue tried powered USB hub and onboard USB port (1200W ps).So I been troubleshooting all day and if I move my MCP to my Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit laptop it works perfectly and never looses connection. Went back to my 64bit machine and tried the demo of FSlabs PMDG driver (which doesn't use Goflight GFDevFSX.exe) and it works perfectly under 64-bit windows. Did all the fast rotates, etc.It seems that GFDevFSX is not completely compatible with Win 7 64 and its MCPPro. I wish their forums were up so I could get some help, I emailed them, not sure if they read e-mails. I played around with GFDevFSX(compatibility mode/affinities/admin/priorities) no joy. I heard a new fw is on the horizon, but not sure how creditable the information is. I'm sure if FSlabs can make a stable driver for FSX Goflight should be able too without a fw upgrade.
February 28, 201115 yr Update , just tried my Level D FSX bird which uses Goflight's GFDevFSX (LevelD) and it worked perfectly no freezes or lockups. So it appears that only default airplanes or airplanes that use the default autopilot system cause my MCP Pro to lock up.
February 28, 201115 yr Does the MCP-Pro lock up when you twirl the knobs (e.g. Altitude, Heading or Course)?Cheers,- jahman.
February 28, 201115 yr Using the default Airplanes fast rotates are autolockups, but even slow conbtrolled ones will lockup maybe not as fast. The LVL-D and PMDG birds won't lockup fast rotates and all.
