@SuperpilotV2; This is an extrapolation outside of the available data as there was no GTX 260 cards in the benchmarked machines having I5 and I7. So it could be interesting to test the formula to see the results but there is no guarantee that the formula is valid for others cards than 580, 570, 560, 480, 460, 460 SE and HD 6990, Formula can never be better than the base data used to create it.
But I found an GPUpassmark score of 1743 for the GTX 260. So why isn´t it valid then?

Best regards, Steffen

@superpilotv2,yes the GPUpassmark score exist. at 1743. But what I meant was that the formula I prepared was derived only from GPU data between 2430 and 3909. So we cannot be sure if going out of this range with a card that have 1743 is valid. It may well be valid, but it may no.Pierre

Hi Folks.First post here. Have been a long-time lurker but only recently upgraded my PC to an FSX-suitable specification.Brand new build, WIndows 7 64-bit, Z68 mobo, other hardware as shown. New install of FSX SP2 configured as per the protocol.I'm pretty happy with these results. Hope people find them helpful.

Hey TW Pilot,Welcome to the AVSIM world! Those are great test numbers, which should render you a smooth and happy FSX experience. Really nice rig. Are you planning on overclocking?Kind regards,

Thanks. From what I've read it should overclock pretty well, and I built in plenty of cooling with that in mind. This thread and the results spreadsheet were a great help in coming up with the components shopping list.I'm going to try to avoid falling into the trap of spending all my time tweaking and tuning instead of flying (been there before with FS9 a few years ago), so I'm going to keep that overclock up my sleeve for the time being, and bring it out when FSX starts to groan under the weight of all the add-ons that are heading its way.Regards,TW Pilot.

Mr. James,Congratulations! Someone has broken the 50 FPS barrier! The 2700K rocks, however, there is not much difference when compared with your 2600K test, even though the newer Graphics card represents a substantial upgrade and the new ram has a lower cas. I wonder if the new CPU has made any real difference, or if any increase is circumstantial or attributable to the other hardware improvements. What do you think?.Kind regards,

Hi StephenThe ram latency and a very small premium from the graphics card made the performance differenceThe microprocessor rocks, but what is important is that it rocks with a much lower voltage. If you can get 5.0 GHz / 1.38 V your 2600 is equivalent to a 2700 if not whatever voltage youfeel comfortable with its going to give you two-three clicks upward in core speed.core i7-2700 @ 5.2 GHzMaximus IV Extreme - zGSKILL Ripjaws-X 4GB 2133 MHz (7-10-7-27-1T)MSI N580GTX LXE 3072 MBWD Velociraptors X3 intel RAID01.63 TB, 342 MB/s read, 7ms accessBlackice Extreme 2 / Laing D5 / Swiftech Apogee HDEnermax Galaxy 1000 WWindows 7 HP-64bitKindest RegardsHLJAMES
