March 10, 201115 yr Hey Gang,I am looking to buy (mailorder) a GTX-460 for my FSX flying. When looking at NewEgg or Amazon I see text like Overclocked or maybe SE, or most anything, and a whole lots of different brands for not a big difference in price. Could you shed a little light on the big picture here and maybe a recommendation or two to consider? Thanks. It will go in an HP i7 - 870 2.93 Ghz. w/8 GB 1300 ram. 24 IN WS monitor now at 1920 x 1200.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
March 10, 201115 yr Gainward Golden Sample, very overclockable, 2gb edition almost the same price as the 1gb, so why not?! probably good when you use multiple monitors. It's a short board edition with centrally mounted fan, not noisy as long as fan speed is below 50%.Got an HDMI outlet too. March 10, 201115 yr Author A new power supply is part of the Video card upgrade. I am looking in the 600 - 650 watt range with the proper cables for these kinds of cards. Sounds like most everyone is overclocking to some degree. Tomshardware.com seems to have tons of good background and test results on all card we would be interested in. I was just curious if there were some brands to avoid for whatever reason. I guess just looking at the most popular in sales at Newegg and PCConnection is a good indicator.Thanks.Ray When Pigs Fly .
