April 2, 201115 yr With much effort, and for your viewing pleasure, the community within this forum gives you this ---->FSX Benchmarks Excellent but my CPU was only at 3.3GHz for the test (someone wrote 3.8). And I also have suspicions that my ram is being underclocked by my bios to 1333 instead of 1866, I also think my ram timings are not set. So I'll have to check on the ram stuff. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

April 2, 201115 yr @FunknNasty: How much volt to get 5.2 Ghz?BTW what IS the safe V for this awesome CPU?Some say max. 1.35 - others say 1.52...
April 2, 201115 yr Well with my CPU/MOBO combo it takes me 1.45'ish to get 5.2 (that's no bs 100% stable). Also, I DO use C1E and Speedstep, so the only time my CPU would use that kind of voltage is under max load (brief periods of time) while running FSX.I have no idea what's safe, but I'm betting that under FSX situations (using Speedstep) that 1.55 (5.4GHz) is probably safe (based on my CPU experience). For 27/7 voltages, I'd probably run something closer to 1.35 ....anyway, if you find a definitive answer let me know. For the record: my default -everyday setup, uses 5.0 for turbo (max load is about 1.411). For what it's worth, I think the target voltage @ turbo is 1.392. April 2, 201115 yr Ok thanks, I´ll turn it up a bit, will probably buy a new one in 2 years time anyway!

April 2, 201115 yr Author Funky, Thanks for the heads up for that database. I wasn't aware that it existed.
April 2, 201115 yr I bet my grin is bigger than yours. Yes, but for how long?I have the same antique HyperMasterCooler 212 as you Mistah Funky, so I´m ready for "Da Magic 5.0"!
April 2, 201115 yr Hi Ron, In what ways was the I5 better than the 920?Me too...I went from a 920 @ 3.8 to a 2600k @ 4.8 and find the sim MUCH better both in smoothness and overall fps in heavy scenery and add-ons. Think 4 cores with a high clock speed (over 4.5 ghz) seems to be best for FSX. Simon
April 2, 201115 yr Went from a i7 930 @ 4.3 to the i7 2600K @ 5.0. It's significantly faster and better in many ways, so well worth it in my opinion.Kind regards,

I'm going to get away with this upgrade because I promised my wife that I'd build her a desktop out of my leftovers. All she needs to buy is a monitor and keyboard. Thanks to you all for your guidance.
