You must be kidding. The full motion FFS level d sims are made to "feel" just like their real world counter parts. That's the point... Come on, man. You said you had thousands of hours at some European airline. :( Surely you've been in a 'real' sim?
I don't know what that has to do with how many hours I have and why I should be kidding?Have YOU ever flown a real 767 and a 'real' 767 level d sim? Aparently not. As long as you haven't flown both, you don't know what you are talking about. One has to get used to the different 'feel' and handling of the sim every time you switch from the real plane to the sim as it's a lot different.E.g. take off rotation and flare handling is different, engine indications during engine start differ etc...When flying visual patterns or you are taxiing the 'full (lagging) motion' is not convincing at all. They are procedure trainers and while it is possible to get type rated without every flying the real plane there is a reason why most airlines let the newly type rated pilots do flight training on the real plane before those pilots flying with passengers.

Line up the donuts to what EPR/power setting? Have you ever been in an Airbus sim? Trust me when I say the "feel" just isn't there. Lastly, what did he say that made him sound like a "Wilco" driver? Sounds like a Wilco driver accusing a real pilot of being a Wilco driver. :( I've visited Avweb for the last 7 years because of their no non sense, truthful reporting. In any case, it sounds like an Airbus driver bashing an Airbus. Something I hear occasionally having friends that fly for US Air (A few of them really dislike the plane).
Have I ever been in an Airbus sim? up until 3 months ago I worked on the damn things on a daily basis, have jumpseated more times than I have been on London Bus and my own father flew the things for 8 years. Also regarding the sim, the feel can be way off the real thing, don't think your time in LVL-D sims give you a complete picture of what it is like to fly the real thing. They are there to train procedures and give pilots an 'idea' of how the real thing behaves.Stick to what you know and I will do the same. or if you want to continue this conversation at least download the FCOM and then attempt to contribute something useful Note: Pulling back the thrust levers from the CL detent during autothrust operation will allow the pilot to limit autothrust upper limit but autothrust is still active until levers are at idle. Chime and ECAM warning will sound every 5 seconds to remind pilot to either disconnect autothrust or reset thrust levers to CL detent. The proper way to disconnect autothrust and begin manual thrust operation is to bring thrust levers back until the TLA “donuts” are matched to thrust indicators and then press instinctive disconnect pb on thrust lever. http://www.chipsplace.com/helpful/Airbus/Auto%20Flight%20System.htm

Let's try relaxing just a bit and having a thicker skin. Your language and attitude don't intimidate me. The fact your father flew them, you have an FCOM, and rode jumpseat don't say much for flying experience. I disagree with you. Have a great day.

Zach, looking at your various statements and weird attitude I start to doubt that you really do have any kind of pilots license. How about accepting the fact that there are things you don't know anything about from first hand experience.

Bro, I've been calm and given my opinion. You jumped the gun and got just a bit condescending. Word of advice: take your own advice.

Okay. There are ways of finding out, ya know. If you had any knowledge of an "airman database", you'd know. But I shouldn't have to remind an experienced 30,000 hr + airline pilot like yourself that such things exist, right? Full name, the state I live in, a Facebook link. I have nothing to hide. :( PS. Nice try, though. I'm going to use this excellent "ignore button". Maybe we'll all be able to get along someday.
