May 16, 201115 yr Hi all,I have just started flying for a virtual airline and fortunately they dont require the pilot to use VATSIM, although it is recommended. I like the idea of VATSIM but really dont fancy going through all of the manuals and buying various bits of kit to myself fully setup.I had a thought and wondered if it was possible to use the VATSIM network without talking to ATC. I.e. i log in to VATSIM log my flight etc, but use my own ATC. I expect the obvious answer is no simply because FSX ATC would clash with VATSIM. But do VATVSIM offer any alternatives, or is it literally treat them as a real world ATC or not at all.ThanksTom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
May 16, 201115 yr I'm not sure why you'd want to fly on the VATSIM network if you didn't want to interact with the real-time ATC there...that's the point of it. You'd still need to connect to VATSIM via FSInn or Squawkbox anyway. And there are other alternatives (including freeware) for logging flights without having to go VATSIM. May 16, 201115 yr If no controller is on yah you can do it, but again, why? The built in ATC functions still work as normal even if connected to the softwareIf someone does login you'll be required to either talk to them or log off if you don't want to.Regarding the "piece of kit," all you need is Squawkbox 4 OR FSInnn - that's it. It's pretty easy to setup, just register on the site and get a pilot ID and password. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 16, 201115 yr Many virtual airlines provide software that will let you log your flights and submit a PIREP after you have completed your flight. Check with your VA, they likely have something that will meet your needs.
