G3d.dll

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed at length here and other places, however I have not been able to find any kind of resolution to this disgusting error. Just about to the point that I can not make a complete flight, can almost count on it: right on the final approach (usually under 1000' AGL) and bam! crash to black....G3d.dll error. Have tried everything I can think of, disable AI...disable scenery... use real weather... no weather... nothing matters. What is the point of spending the time to set up and make a flight only to get a crash to black during the last 30 or so seconds. Any fresh ideas on this issue are most welcome!

HiI spend many hours trying to find reason of this g3d.dll crash almost every time around EBBR.For me the problem starts after activating 3gb patch. There was a speculation about AES and this error but I did not find connection between AES and g3d.dll error.I reinstalled whole new OS (from XP to 7 64bit) and again all my addons (which I had before.I didn't activate 3GB patch. For now (almost 6 mth) I didn't have any CTD with this or any other error.I suggest You to download Proces monitor (Filemon was the name before) and try to find an error. Maybe some of the scenery causes crash because of missing textures. You didn't explain where this crash happens? On specific airport or anywhere?Edin

Hi,happens to me as well at Cloud 9 EHAM (AESed). Final approach, poof! Luckily, I saved the flight when passing 10000', so I was able to reload and try again (flying the PMDG B744). The second time around I had a CTD again. Third time all went well. So what changed between the first two flights and the third one? Nothing... full AI, ASE for weather, GEPro II and the 3Gb switch (or patch) active. The next day I flew to EHAM again and the same happened: a g3d.dll CTD on finals. Having saved the flight as usual, after a reload, all went well. Go figure! I put this one into the category of "just one of those things". Just to add... I checked my addons thoroughly for rogue LC files, bad textures, duplicate AFCADs and whatnot - all to no avail. I activated the 3GB thingie after consistent OOM's on finals with the PMDG Queen and FS2Crew Voice Edition - even with vanilla FS9 installation with no other add-ons except these two. So, no more OOM's but g3d.dll CTD's for variety... Black%20Eye.gifRegards,JureP.S: Edin, how've you been? It's been a while.... :(

Just in case you have never come across this being mentioned elsewhere in the forum you might want to take a look here;http://www.adventure-unlimited.org/faultfinding.phpJohn is very helpful in diagnosing and solving problems such as yours.Best regards,Mel
Thanks Mel. Will look that info over. One of the biggest offending airports for me is DTW. I disabled the AES basepack and have not had the issue there since. Can't say for sure that is the cause but sure was nice to complete some flights!

Thanks for the flattering comments! Regret I have very little experience of this particular DLL error so cannot help a lot. The only thing I will say is that I have had the 3GB switch installed for many years so I don't think there is a direct connection there despite what has been said above.Good luck with solving this . . . would be interesting to know the outcome.John

Joe, just curious..... Do you look out the windows a lot during your flights? I have found I get similar errors if I am constantly looking out the windows during a flight. In my opinion, the worst being the look down view where your viewing just the ground. Its been mentioned before that FS9 does not like the user constantly changing views. For kicks, why dont you try re-enabling the AES at DTW and try another flight into that airport. And if you are one that likes to change views, dont. On this flight just use your basic cockpit views, front left, front, and front right. Be curious to see if you can complete the flight successfully. One other thing. Heat as caused this issue for me in the past as well. Thats why I keep the side panel off my PC.M.

Made several successful flights UNTIL I re-enabled the AES basepack. That brought back the crash to black with the g3d.dll error. Guess I will leave the basepack out for a while and see how it all goes. Made a point of using alot of different views to see if that could in fact be the cause, as I have read that before but no problems with lots of looking around.
