June 3, 201115 yr Hello,I will be flying on a Virgin Blue 737 soon, and I would like to know if anyone else has flown on a Virgin NG, and was able to fly in the cockpit. I have seen some videos where someone was able to fly in a Virgin 737NG cockpit for a flight. Here is one of them. Thank-you for any ideas. Thanks, Kevin L
June 3, 201115 yr No idea if you can get in the cockpit or not, but thanks for the video. I don't remember seeing this one before, and I think it's the first time I've seen video, or a picture for that matter, of someone using the VSD in-flight.(Waits for someone to show me pictures and video while yelling "You idiot". :( )
June 3, 201115 yr Not sure you will have any luck unfortunately. I recently flew on V Australia 777 and asked the same but they replied saying the Virgin policy across the group was straight out 'no-go'. Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!
June 3, 201115 yr I went in the cockpit after landing in brisbane once.I was sitting next to a deadheading FA and she said if you wait until everyone else gets off you most likely will be allowed in for a visit. Great experience.I think you need to know one of the pilots to get acsess in flight. I have heard a first person account of someone who knows a captain there and got to jumpseat. but even then it's probably unlikely.Ps. Jeff, what did you think of VAs 777? I've only ever heard positives.
June 3, 201115 yr Whenever I've flown on Qantas, Virgin or Jetstar domestic, I've always just got up and asked a flight attendant (when they don't look toooo busy) to ask the flight crew if they'd mind and explained I have an interest in aircraft + at the time was going to start a cadedtship with one of the airlines here so was quite keen to hear about the industry from people who are actually in it - got a lost of useful info. Anyway, pretty much all the time I've been able to visit afer landing.Cheers,Rudy
June 3, 201115 yr On the flight from Melbourne to Phuket on VA's 777 i was able to go in the cockpit after landing and flick a few switches (Mainly lights and FMC) and spent a good 30 mins in their talking and sitting in the FO seat Was a great experiance.. although they had left the cockpit in one bad mess hahaha, but that was the least of my worriesIf my memory serves me correctly, that may be from the World Air Routes series of flight deck DVD's (one of the couple of hundred they have) I do have it but have not watched it for a while but looks very similar to an approach they do in that dvd. June 3, 201115 yr Author Thanks for your replies. Indeed, the 777's cockpit is very nice, lets hope the PMDG version reflects that! Thanks, Kevin L
June 3, 201115 yr My last 777 flight was out of RCTP a few years back in a storm - I can remember that it climbed like a homesick angel!I should be on a 777 again later this year on the way to KJFK :( Scott
