July 6, 201114 yr Hey JBZ,I missed the initial dispatch today for the RedDog units, when SWA decided to have a little tire problem on 25R (? I think it was R). Was that during takeoff (assuming it was R)?ThanksMKI missed it too....considering it's my day off. ;)
July 6, 201114 yr Tony,Nope we don't use TO1/TO2 we even don't enter temperatures. The people we fly for are always in a hurry, so we are always trying to geth the absolute max out of these birds! The same for the climb/decent profile, their is no specific figuere, it depends of the flight situation (how many passengers, luggage etc, fuel and distance) but around 280 is what I normaly flyThan the flaps: This just depends of the weight of the plane and the runway length available. For example: if we depart from a major airport like Amsterdam, or Houston, then we sometimes try to use flaps 1. As a BBJ you can do this because compared to it's airlines brothers we are (generally speaking) very light. But last week for example I flew into Bromont (CZBM) a small stip near Montreal Quebec, because that is what corporate planes do try to avoid the major airports, and then we have no chance of getting in to the air with flaps 1 I had to use flaps 15 to geth out of their! This evening I am flying a long-haul flight from Amsterdam(EHAM) to Bermuda(TXKF) the estimated flight time is just over 7 HRS! If you like I can post the flightplan after the flight!I hope that I awnserd your questions!Regards,FritsPs I really hope that PMDG releases a BBJ, so that I can practice some procedures and of course for all the others out their, because they fly so damn fast!!!!Frits,Thanks very much for your info! You guys must climb off the runway like a rocket. +3000fpm is probably a leisurely pace for you...Yeah - in General Aviation, it's a much different world. Much lighter payloads, but much heavier planes. Your BBJ is *MUCH* heavier than a commercial 737-700 I'm sure, but you probably only ever put 200-1000 lbs of payload on it, so your ZFWs are comparatively light. The heaviest BBJ I know has an OEW of 102,500 lbs! With it's tank configuration (69,000 lbs), full fuel brings it all the way up to max ramp weight, so even 1 passenger starts eating into max fuel!!Thanks again for your info. At my job I do a lot of flightplanning for BBJs, so I'm fairly familiar with the range, fuel burns, cruise altitudes, and reserve fuel preferences (EVERYBODY has a different reserve fuel preference!). But I don't know how they're typically flown! (such as derates, flaps, etc)I *REALLY* hope PMDG does a BBJ. Bizjets are my Real Life world, and the BBJ is definitely my favorite. For Bermuda, I'd probably give you an alternate of Norfolk/KORF. :(-Tony Tony Fiore
July 6, 201114 yr I missed it too....considering it's my day off. ;)They lost both tires on the R-Main; ended up busing the PSX from where it sat on 25R to one of SWA's gates.MK
July 6, 201114 yr We use it occassionally at PHOG.JackColwillJack, Do you fly PHLI to SEA, in possibly an -800? I can't get the MTOW numbers to work for the 6500ft runways with sufficient fuel and a decent passenger load. How full are your typical flights from there (if you do fly that leg)?ThanksMK
July 6, 201114 yr Hey MK. its been quite a while since I have done the Hawaii flights myself but PHOG, if I recall was eighty-some-odd hundred feet. Our loads are usually packed on hawaii. 6500? Seems awefully short to get a good load. I havent flown into PHLI. The ones I have done are CYVR-PHOG-PHOG or CYVR-PHNL-CYVR. yes I overnight there when I did them. JackColwill
July 6, 201114 yr full thrust takeoffwhat is a full throttle takeoff, when you use the maximum available thrust that the engine can produce? Joe Barton
July 7, 201114 yr Hey MK. its been quite a while since I have done the Hawaii flights myself but PHOG, if I recall was eighty-some-odd hundred feet. Our loads are usually packed on hawaii. 6500? JackColwillOk, thanks for the response. I thought you were with another Co that has picked up a lot of HI flights over the last few years.MK
July 8, 201114 yr " --I got to do part of the Pre-Flight and they let me get our PDC and verify the route in the FMC! They were both amazed at my knowledge in the aircraft. I told them about FSX and how almost everything is simulated. "lol, of course you did.
July 8, 201114 yr What's so shocking about that? I've done the same on multiple aircraft across multiple carriers. Just ask nicely and demonstrate that you actually know what you are talking about. The phrase "I'm a student pilot" also seems to work well. Joe Sherrill

Why do you think they can leave the cockpit door open during that time?
July 8, 201114 yr Yeah I'm not understanding to make such a comment, it does happen. There are no restrictions during pre-flight. Why do you think they can leave the cockpit door open during that time? What i'm saying is I know they didn't sit there and let a 13 year old do HALF the preflight...

July 8, 201114 yr What i'm saying is I know they didn't sit there and let a 13 year old do HALF the preflight...Why not?As long as they have enough time and as long as they sit next to him and comtroll what he does it's okay...I mean pilots are only humans like u and me ;)So why not? As long as they took care of what he did in the time he was at the flightdeck regards, Alexander Marx
July 8, 201114 yr What i'm saying is I know they didn't sit there and let a 13 year old do HALF the preflight...What's to say they didn't "redo" it after he left the cockpit? Have you ever programmed the FMC? It doesn't really take that long to do... Brian Berkowicz
