Has Mega Sao Paulo 2011 been released?

Featured Replies

Here's what I'm talking about:http://www.terra-brasilis.org/brasil-sceneries/fsx/sudeste/582-fsx-mega-sao-paulo-2011-by-paulo-ricardoHowever, I see no download link. I'm a bit confused - is it released or not? The link on that page brings you to a forum, but that forum doesn't seem to give much more clarity on the matter. If it has been released, then where can I download it?By the way, the same designer is doing much the same thing for Rio de Janeiro. Can't wait to get my hands on that one - looks stunning!

Ben,I bought it a while back from Paulo. I actually got it in back in Dec 2010 but it was the previous version and I haven't decided if I will get the new version or not since the original I got was pretty good. You can't download it since it's so big and it's also not free. When you go the link you will see a message at the botton that says:Contato com Paulo Ricardo para adquirir esta edição através do email:[email protected] means you need to send Paulo an email if your interested in buying it. From what I remember it was around R$35 (reais - sounds like hey-eyes) and what you need to do is send him a bank transfer then he will main you a DVD with the scenery. The whole process took me about a month before I got my DVD.All I can say is that its pretty good, but I must warn you. With that rig you have and some of the problems you have with running some of the ORBX stuff, the amount of autogen buildings may kill your FPS at your clock speed. Just a warning however. It does look pretty good and it will work with Tropical Sims SBSP and SBGR as well as LatinVFR's SBGR, but you will need to remove some of the files from Mega Sao Paulo to make those airports display correctly. If you have more questions let me know. Also, Paulo speaks pretty good English when you email him and ask him questions.POST EDIT: I forgot to mention that you can remove the predio.bgl if you have a hard time with FPS and it will give you more performance, but you will lose the vast amount of high rise buildings.

Thanks for the answers!Hm. Do you have any indication how it performs compared to FlyTampa's Hong Kong? My FPS is there is good, overall, so if Mega Sao paulo works as good, I shouldn't have too much trouble. The aircraft I'd probably be flying in that area will be the PMDG MD-11 and PMDG 737NGX, whenever it gets released. The ultimate idea is to have the Sao Paulo - Rio air bridge, and do some flights to Chile and Peru while I'm at it.By the way, overall I have quite nice FPS at most OrbX airports. The most problematic airport has always been YBBN, and so I use the freeware YBBN that was released some time ago, but YMML doesn't work too bad and most others return quite nice FPS. That's with about half the features activated.

No, but if you want to buy me a copy of FlyTampa's Kai Tak, I will try it out and give you a comparison :-)I will say this as a comparison however. I do own Tropical Sim Sao Paulo - Rio Air Bridge package which comes wiith SBSP, SBGR, SBRJ and SBGL. I have since removed the SBGR and replaced it with LatinVFR's version.Flying into Congonhas (SBSP) with Mega Sao Paulo and the LDS 767 (tight landing but can be done if your not to heavy) gives me only about 20-22 FPS.Flying into Guarulhos (SBGR - LatinVFR version) with Mega Sao Paulo and the LDS 767 gives me about 25 to 27 FPS. However, much of the vast autogen buildings dont populate SBGR like they do the SBSP area so that is part of the reason my FPS aren't too bad at SBGR. SBSP's FPS are a lot worse due to the autogen, but truth be told, Tropical Sims SBSP doesn't get very good FPS on my rig even without Mega Sao Paulo installed. I think when they ported SBSP to FSX, something in the scenery is causing a drag on FPS, as is their SBRJ and SBGL both in Rio.The good news though, is that on the Terra Brasilis site, someone is doing a new freeware version of SBSP that might get better FPS and also a fellow named Newton who made MegaRio V9 for FS9 a few years ago is finishing up the same project for FSX and it includes SBRJ and SBGL. also its freeware and will probably be uploaded to Avsim as well. So, I will probably remove Tropical Sims SBRJ and SBGL when I try his MegaRio package with his airports included. Also, one more comparison for you. I get a solid 28-30 FPS flying into FSDT KJDF with the PMDG 747, so that just goes to show their is some signifigant slow down in Mega Sao Paulo when used with Tropical Sim SBSP.One last tidbit of info for you. Years ago you probably heard of or had a great SBSP and SBRJ for FS9 from a company called World Sceneries. The Rio package was called Wonderful Rio or something like that. Well, they have been reborn under the name Xscena and can be found at www.xscena.com. They are supposed to be doing a good looking photoreal Sao Paulo that includes SBGR and SBSP, as well as some Rio stuff down the road. You might want to check out thier site before you do anything> There are some screen shots of Sao Paulo posted and it looks pretty good.Ok, one last bit of fun info for you to think about when flying around Brasil. The letter "R" usually soulds like the letter "H". So a guy named Richardo is pronounced like He-cardo and the city Rio sounds like He-u. Also aviation related the old Varig airline isn't pronounced like it looks, its actually sounds like Vari-gee and TAM sound like Tom, since I have heard Americans call it like Tam, lol. Maybe you speak some Portuguese already, but if not I thought you might find those things interesting when your flying around Brasil. Just dont ask about the letters "T" and "D", those can really sound funny. My offer still stands if you want me to compare Kati Tak though :-)Regards

Wow, thanks for the comprehensive answer. The statistics on KJFK and PMDG 747 will be especially helpful, although I have not installed it right now so I can check on my performance. It indeed sounds, however, like my FPS won't be too stellar with MSP2011. My FPS at KJFK is pretty ppor, but it's mainly caused, I think, by UTX USA and MegaScenery Earth. Especially UTX USA seems to hit my system rather hard despite the fact that they keep saying to me that UTX USA isn;'t performance intensive, but it's the traffic on the roads that drags the performance down. For as far as I can see, it hardly has an effect whether the traffic is at 0% or my normal 20%, though.I look at the xscena.com Sao Paulo, but it seems to be X-plane only, unless I looked at the wrong place of course.I'll keep MSP2011 in mind, but I'll do some more testing with my current addons before I go any further, I think. Anywho, thanks again for the help. I think I know enough now.

There is a new version of MegaSP 2011 released already witch is very good fps wise. The bulding coverage is much greater than the previous version and the most important, the scenery was built with a more powerful thecnique witch enhances the fps much more. You will be facinated about the scenery details. Here is a screen with fps on:3312010_12_25_18_4_0_800_tn.jpgIn my fsx i limit the fps in 30 and allways get 30 in megasp. There are many other packages from Brazil that Paulo have including megaRio witch is very beatiful too, you may want to check with him.I´m not a MEGASP employee!!! Just a very satisfied customer! :(

Thanks for the info Flavio. That building coverage does look better. I wonder if I could just have Paulo upload and send the autogen and predio.bgl so I can just update that. I really dont want to spend another R$35 to get the update, especially when the only area I even need is the one around SBSP and SBGR. The first disk I got a few years ago included more areas that I never even installed.I guess I will need to email him.On a side note, with the first version I could also get 30 FPS no problem when using a plane like in your shot, the problem with FPS was using more complex a/c like LDS767 or PMDG JS4100.Thanks for the info however, I am sure Ben will be interested to read it also.

Your talking about the freeware one by Newton that has been available for FS9 called RioDeJaneiroV9? Or something else?If the freeware one, I asked Newton a few days ago and he said "Fase final ..." or finals. So I am guessing he is pretty close. This link has a bunch of pics: RioDeJaneiroV9If you takling about the MegaRio by Paulo Richardo, it has been available for some time, but is payware and you need to email Paulo to get info on how to purchase. You may be content with the freeware version by Newton though since it looks pretty good as well and includes some photoreal ground.

Some interesting stuff mentioned here, thanks all for the input! I downloaded Rio v9, I think I'll install it and give it a look before going for MegaRio. First, however, I'll do some mroe test flying to see how FSX performs overall at the present moment. Then I'll install the PMDG 747 and MD-11 and FSDT KJFK to see what performance I currently get there, and only then will I think about MSP2011 and MegaRio.

Ben, you know Rio V9 is for FS9 right? I am not so sure how it will work in FSX or work correctly for that matter.I though you might be interested in an email I got from Paulo a long time ago regarding Mega Sao Paulo 2011, below is a cute and paste:_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________OláTd bem ?Está disponivel a nova versão do Mega São Paulo 2011, foi totalmente reformulado começando do zero, e baseadonos mesmos moldes da construção do cenário Flytampa Kay-Tak, são mais de 25.000 predios sem POP, ( predios que desaparecem com a distancia) toda area Metropolitana com resolução de 7cmincluindo a região de Guarulhos e Alphaville, toda a parte noturna redesenhada com todas as ruas posicionadas corretamente, o melhor o desempenhocom frames exelentes, são 2 DVDs que compreendem São PauloV2 e a cidade de Ribeirão Preto Photoreal. Foram 8 meses de trabalho!_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________In otherwords, it is completely redesigned from scratch, and done like Flytampa Kai Tak with more than 25,000 buildings and without buildings that pop up or disappear in the distance. The city area is done with a resolution of 7cm including the region of Guarulhos and Alphaville. Also the night textures were redone and the streets properly positioned. It also gets better FPS that the last version. It comes on two DVD's due to the size and cost R$65 which is about $42 USD.I might give it a shot, or see if he can just sell me the area for the city of Sao Paulo and/or that area since I dont need the whole area. The last time I got the 2 DVDs I only installed the greater Sao Paulo area since that was the part I was interested in and to this day never used the rest of it.Hope this helps. If I get it I will let you know how it works, but if it's like last time it will probably take a month to get.

I was referring to the MegaRio for FSX package, not an FS9 package. If there's a free version that works with FSX, I would certainly appreciate a link.If the MegaRio for FSx package has been released, and you have a copy, what can you tell me about the package? Thanks,Jose

Yes, I know you didn't want an FS9 package. I was refering to the FS9 version as the one which is being redone by Newton for FSX.There are three Rio packages for FSX.1. The one by Newton which is freeware and when I asked him the other day he said its almost done. Its called RioDeJaneiroV9X and you can see some screen shots and read more here: http://www.terra-brasilis.org/forum/index.php?topic=2544.02. The second freeware called Mega Rio X was being done by Magrão and has been put on hold due to some FPS issues with the models. No completion date has been given and frankly its hard to know if or when they will finish. Here's the link to it if you want to check the screen shots. It was really nice and I hope they release it at some point. http://www.terra-brasilis.org/forum/index.php?topic=1409.03. Lastly their is the payware verion of Mega Rio X which is done by Paulo Richardo. I do not have it and dont really have a lot of info. The only thing I have seen on it is this youtube video. You will have to email Paulo to get the details on the cost. His email is [email protected]://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ui3rwAg38uQI will probably just wait for Newton's version which looks to be nice and try it. Then if I am not satisified enough I will try Paulo's version, although Paulo's version has been out for a few years now, I never jumped on it since I was waiting for option #2 which never materialized.

There will be a new Paulo's Mega Rio version also. Same as Mega São Paulo v2, better look, better performance, more buildings etc.Screenshots here: http://www.terra-brasilis.org/forum/index.php?topic=2809.0
