July 5, 201114 yr Hi everyone,Long time I did not post a question regarding a twilight zone problem.Since I switched to FSX, a year ago or so, I've got a frustrating problem for which I need your help for a solution, even if I know FSX and weather processing might be crap. I spent hours looking for a solution, without success. The problem: randomly, when on final, whatever on which airport, a complete haze layer suddenly appears, even if some seconds ago I was just with some clouds around. When on external view I can't or hardly see wings lights ! Not funny when flying manual landing and no ILS equipment ... then I have to pause FSX, turn off ASX, choose clear sky in FSX and finish the landing.Regarding my weather related add-ons I use Active Sky X (disable haze layer ticked), REX 2.0 OD textures, FSUIPC registered.Don't know if it comes from FSX or something else.Your help / ideas / experience would be really appreciated,Thanks in advance !
July 5, 201114 yr Its instant fog. FSX does it by itself i am not sure on what weather settings you would need in your weather programm to disable it.
July 5, 201114 yr I had a similar issue. Basically i take off in fog, climb a few thousand feet and instantly it disappears and it looks below like a perfectly clear day, fly back down to the airport and instantly the fog loads in and i am blind.I asked on here about it and somebody said it was an FSX thing and that REX and ASE go some way to managing the problem but not solving it.Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
July 5, 201114 yr Author Hi,Thanks for your answers. If this is a FSX problem, then 100% of users have this problem, and I can't imagine no one found a solution for this. Making a visual approach in those conditions is impossible, and unrealistic.Hope some other readers may contribute in this topic.
July 5, 201114 yr Add this to your FSX .cfg file under the [GRAPHICS] section and see if it fixes it....Worked for me..."TableFog=0" C172P N97674 PPL SEL Complex High Performance
July 5, 201114 yr Add this to your FSX .cfg file under the [GRAPHICS] section and see if it fixes it....Worked for me..."TableFog=0"Did that eliminate fog all together, or just that annoying haze layer?Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
July 6, 201114 yr Author Added this line in .cfg last night, lloks like it does not suppress a poor visibility situation, just complete fog. Had a mist in METAR, it was there, but no complete fog. Will make another test tonite.Still in need of a return of experience of other people.Thanks.
July 19, 201114 yr Author Hi again everyone,After a dozen flights, the problem happened again, BUT, I tried something different.I was on final of Insbruck (Austria), with a rainy METAR. when, on short, once again, that fog appeared. This time, I did this :- turning ASX off, turning FSX weather on clear sky (went OK), then ASX back on => Fog again behind the windshield- turning ASX off, turning FSX weather on real weather => Fog again behind the windshield, so it does not come from ASX- in 2D cockpit, looking left or right => can't even see windows or seats, just the fog :(- now the "best", in virtual cockpit => no cockpit, just this milky thing :(- note that in external view, I just can see the wings lights. So I guess, it might be a graphic glitch, happening with bad METARs ?I use FSX, ASX, REX 2.0 textures my graphic card is a ATI HD5870 with last drivers, CPU I7E860 not o/c, 8 gigs RAM, Win 7 64 bits..Your help to find a solution would be priceless, I'm lost !
