Sounds environment anticipation...

Featured Replies

For me one of the most important aspects of any simulation are the sounds. Just as important as visuals. We've been told the sound experience in the NGX will be very impressive. I know that there will be moments when using the NGX where the sounds will just make me smile with satisfaction.Where do you think these moments will come? For me it will be the 737 specific sounds that other addons have all attemped but with mixed success.... The clunk of the nose gear on retraction, the speed brake lever on deployment at touchdown, the trim wheels, engine spool up etcCan we predict these moments of sound immersion, what will make you smile the first time you hear it? Are there any obsure but cool sounds we should look at for?Adam Turley

A realistic APU :rolleyes:Sounds are pretty good on the iFly, PMDG will be awesome :(

I've spent the last several days with the current build of the NGX, and I can honestly say that the sounds included are the best I've heard in FS, ever.I'm not exaggerating when I say that on several occassions, I've simply taxied around the airport listening to the engines' characteristic whine. It's especially impressive when you bump the throttles up to get moving (yes, it taxies at idle. Don't worry!). The "buzzsaw" sound at TOGA thrust is equally as impressive, as is the transition to and from high/low power. I really love the sound when the AT brings the power back to climb thrust. The entire dynamic range of the engines is faithfully represented. For those who regale in cockpit ambiance, you will enjoy the sounds of the air conditioning packs, recirc fans, avionics fans, and the satisfying clicks and clunks of every lever and knob. Forget about the obvious things like the trim wheel (which is included as a matter of course), and listen more closely to the sounds of solenoid held switches releasing, the flap handle negotiating its detents, and the nose wheel slowing to a stop against the snubber after gear retraction. The aural callouts are standard fare and should be well known to most, however, the clarity and quality of the alerts and callouts far surpasses anything I've heard before. These are not rough recordings containing background noise, sounding like they've been pasted into the sim. They are all volume matched and blend seamlessly with the audio environment.I think you'll be astounded at the level of sound quality in the NGX...it's truly one of the best features!Nick

Glad I have just bought a Corsair SP2500 2.1 Speaker for my PC. Can't wait to hear the 737NGX sounds coming out of these speakers. PMDG was for a long time the benchmark in high quality, complex addon for FS, and now I can see they're easily becoming the benchmark for the sound package as well. Reading something like this makes it worth having waited all the time it took for it to be complete.

For me, I look forward to hearing the flaps (not the flaps lever in the cockpit!) and the reverse thrust from inside the cockpit.

I am looking forward to touch down from 20 10 then the sound from the gear touching the pavement the spoilers leaver going back the thrust reversers activating. And the take off.

In the real thing, from the cockpit, you dont even hear the flaps.JackColwill

Hey guys I posted this in another thread but it quickly became buried and I'm not expecting an answer, this thread seems to be a bit more appropriate. Any beta testes or development team try the NGX with buttkicker? I have a b-day coming up and I'm really on the fence about it. I have heard it is an amazing product, but some say there are certain aircraft that just don't create enough low frequency noise to get the buttkicker kicking. I really don't think it would be an issue with the ngx reading the above comments about the sound, but anyone try this out first hand?

Wow, thanks Nick! I didn't expect anything else, but it just sounds truly amazing. The anticipation is killing me now...Adam.

Yes I have a butt kicker but they are WAY too expensive in the long run. It works well though. Whenever I spend too much time on FS, she comes downstairs, sneaks up behind me and kicks me in the butt. It even talk (aka yells) at you. Stuff like "get the he*l off that thing and come upstairs". Heck it EVEN tells me to do the dishes. No other FS product has simulated that to date. But not only does the buttkicker require power but diamond earings, rings, backrubs, etc so hence in the long run the buttkicker is very expensive.Sorry had to.JackColwill
