AI Aircraft - Hiding them - Sound issues - Help!

Featured Replies

Hi All,Ok here is my dilemma, I have deleted ORBX AI in Australia and NZ as I wanted just one AI proggy to run worldwide (WOAI), also I wanted to customise the sounds so they are not using default aircraft, and default aircraft sounds....2 issues here. I am wanting to use some aircraft using the default sound aliases but not using the default aircraft.bgl (disabling that).1. Is there a way of not showing default aircraft in the select aircraft UI, I have currently changed the [fltsim=0] entries for each aircraft to [fltsim=xx] for each aircraft so they do not show but the Ai still can use the soundai alias' from those folders as the folders still reside under the airplanes folder under SimObjects.2. Will this have any negative effects in terms of default aircraft, I have disabled default aircraft.bgl in scenery\world\scenery folder but I assume the sound aliases will still work.3. I assume I will not get invisible default aircraft as AI as I have disabled the defaulttraffic.bgl in scenery\world\scenery folder.P.S. I do not need the default aircraft for anything do I ??Can someone suggest this is ok.....many thanks in advance......

I'm kind of confused on what you are trying to do if you want to use the WOAI and not have them show in the FSX UI, but at the same time are changing the [fltsim=0] entries for each aircraft to [fltsim=xx], which will make them show up as invisible a/c in the sim but with lights. If you want to hide them in the FSX UI, just run the WOAI Visibility update found on the WOAI site. Here's a link to download it from the Avsim library. http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=woa_airfile_updates_v1.zip&CatID=root&Go=Search . When you run it you will have to direct it to your FSX/Simobjects folder or wherever you have your WOAI a/c installed.

No, sorry mate, I dont want to use the Default FSX aircraft, I am not wanting these to show in my UI, I am wanting to have WOAI as the primary aircraft in FSX and my own flyable aircraft. I only want my flyable aircraft to show up in the select aircraft UI.I want to use the soundai alias' in WOAI from my default aircraft but I do not want default airfcraft in FSX Select Aircraft UI and in the sim itself but I am still wanting the soundai alias' from the WOAI aircraft which use the default aircraft soundai alias'.So to that end I have changed each [fltsim=0] to [fltsim=xx] for each aircraft and also disabled the defaultaircraft.bgl so no default aircraft ai traffic shows up.thats where I am at, so are you saying I will have invisible aircraft showing up, i assumed if I am only using WOAI and disabled the defaultaircraft.bgl in scenery\world\scenery then I would not have the aircraft showing up, invisible or not.Thoughts anyone............

If I am required to keep the default aircraft intact but not have them show in the select aircraft UI and still have them show visible in the sim, that is if I am required to keep them in, would I just delete the panel.cfg for each default aircraftIs this a better way to go??

anyone....? Can anyone suggest if this will work, do I need the default Aircraft for WOAI and just renaming them to [fltsim=xx) and disabling the defaulttraffic.bgl in scenery\world\scenery folder??Many thanks for anyone that may reply......cheers

Disabling the default traffic file will remove all default AI from the sim.Re-naming any and all panel folders will remove any aircraft from the aircraft selection screen.I see no need to mess with any [fltsim.nn] entries.Completely removing default aircraft could create problems if other planes panels and/or sounds are aliased to them, better to leave them there and re-name their panel folders if you want to remove them from the aircraft selection menu.regards,Joe

Many thanks joe, I have just realized that if I rename the panel folder then my other 737 aircraft for example wont work as they require the panel.cfg from the default 737 aircraft....hmm I guess there is not other way around this........thanks Joe for your assistance....if there is another way I would love to know......thank you again Joe

It isn't necessary to RENAME the panel folder, all you do is REFER to a non-existing panel folder in the aircraft.cfg; the default can then still be seen by an alias statement. However, I suspect that FSX could need a panel from a default AC to initialize with - If you disable all defaults, FSX might not start properly. You might have to leave fltsim.0 intact...----------------------------[fltsim.0]title=Boeing 737-800 Paint1sim=Boeing737-800model=panel=OFFsound=texture=1....................[fltsim.1]title=Boeing 737-800 Paint2sim=Boeing737-800model=panel=OFFsound=texture=2The alias just refers to a valid folder name... In previous versions of FS there was even a folder full of generic sounds and such that you could alias to with addon aircraft; I last used that same feature in FS9 but it may also still work in FSX.Loyd

Thats brilliant Loyd, so I can still have all the default aircraft intact, they can all still work in Ai if neccesary and just using the panel=off this will mean they wont show up in the Select Aircraft UI but wont show up invisibly as I have not made the [fltsim=xx]Is this correct? So basically just do the =off and all functionality will work but wont show in the select aircraft UI??Many many thanks indeed Loyd

I know they don't show up due to the lack of a valid panel.... I was hoping they would show up as "AI" in multiplayer when other used them anyway but they didn't - and that was a disappointment; I was hoping to reduce my aircraft list also. For aircraft packages that have dozens of paints, I just deleted a bunch of them from a revised version of the aircraft.cfg (after saving the original, of course) and made sure the remaining few were numbered sequentially. You could also put a COPY of the 737 panel folder in your add-on version and then alias all the other ones to that instead of to the panel in the default 737; this MAY possibly let you 'disable' all of the default 737 - you'll have to try that on your own...you still may have to keep at least one of the default.Loyd
