July 12, 201114 yr Hi guys, I´ve just made my 10th. approach or so into San Diego with the famouse LOC 27. Interesting but it gets a bit boring after time. Do you know other approaches like this? I mean no ILS but an LOC and nice terrain or any LDA approaches like Hong Kong here in northern America? Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
July 12, 201114 yr You could try an ILS to runway 01 at Guatemala Aurora, MGGT. Or just do it as a VOR/DME as we had to in the mid-1980s in B767s before the ILS was approved or flight-tested. Beware of "hills" and volcanoes!Colin B

July 13, 201114 yr Also, you could try the last 727 hand-fly approach made by United into Chicago Meigs, made in the 1990s (look it up on YouTube).;)

July 13, 201114 yr Author PAJN has an interesting appraoch. Also done well with the freeware Glacier Bay V2 scenery. Thanks, this one I completely forgot. Had the scenery allready installed but was out of mind. Would be nice to come with an 727-100 from Alaska Airlines. Btw. how does an VOR/DME approach work? They´´re offen mentioned but I have no clue how this works. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
July 13, 201114 yr Have a look at My link. It will give you a start. Try Google and you can get more. Hal Stoen seems to have done a lot if you want to learn basic IFR and various approach procedures.Colin B
