Incredible Freeware Sceneries

Featured Replies

There is so much about these sceneries that is outstanding and even groundbreaking that I hope scenery designers will take a look also to see what can be done. The hardened aircraft shelters (HAS) are particularly amazing.... I hope the LHS team will produce LHBP. There is an old freeware one that is pretty dated now and LAGO used to have a payware version but that must be very old too and I'm not sure if it's even available. But ANY product that they choose to produce is going to be outstanding, given the quality of what they have already done.CheersIan
Hi IanThanks for the information about these sceneries. Not only are they absolute great, but almost just as good, the scenery objects are free to use anywhere else if you build your own places with "instant scenery" or other programs like that.Have anyone by the way ever thought of making a list with scenery files that contains good custom made objects, useful for making your own scenery?S. Hi,You must be aware that there is a near perfect LHBP available from Aerosoft done by a local guy who is one of the top simmers from Hungary. The special about the FS2004 version is that it also contains the city together with all the Danube bridges and other landmarks plus around 5-6 smaller airports in and around Budapest. Framerates are OK on FS2004 too.I just say this as you only refer to the Lago scenery as the sole payware choice.Cheers,Alex
Thanks Alex. I did check the Aerosoft web site previously because I had a feeling in the back of my mind that they had released an LHBP but didn't see it. I must have been having a stupid moment as after I read your post and went back and checked again, I saw it right away. It looks great and I'll be purchasing it.Ian

This would be a great idea! One of the problems I find with Instant Scenery is the overwhelming number of objects that have been deposited with various sceneries - many of which are not worth using. I would love to see a list of the really quality objects so you wouldn't waste so much time scrolling down to try to find something you want to use. I guess the trick then would be to install a dedicated version of FS9 that only included those particular objects and then transfer the new .bgl file to the version you fly.... Ian
Looking over the nominees for the AVSIM awards for 2011, I saw reference to a freeware scenery producer I had never heard of known as LHSimulations. After downloading them, I have to tell you all, THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! There are three FS9 sceneries as well as FSX and even X-Plane offerings. The FS9 sceneries are three former Warsaw Pact airfields in Hungary and they are among the best sceneries I have ever seen, period! What really got me was not only the detail and "immersion" of them, but they really have a "semi-abandoned" feel to them. Old crumbling concrete bunkers, unused hardstands with weeds growing through the cracks, incredibly realistic hardened aircraft shelters that really do look like they are covered in grass sod and not just colored green - and one of them has a derelict Mig 17 that made me gasp! You definitely want to check these out - they are gems full of atmosphere and lots of surprises! Fire up your favorite helo and fly low and slow and discover all they have to offer. No FPS hit on my system at all....http://www.lhsimulations.hu/?lang=enYou will be amazed, I promise. WOW! :( Ian
Amazing, Good Post!!!Applause.gif

"One of the problems I find with Instant Scenery.. [etc]"Why was this discontinued? Does anybody know? :([thinks: maybe there's a thread about it -- I'll do a search]It's been superseded by Version 2. Please ignore above :(

As soon as I saw the new version of LHDC was available I downloaded it, though I couldn't imagine how you could improve what was already a fantastic scenery. But sure enough - it's even better. I can't wait to see what new sceneries you produce - they are amazing. THANK YOU!!!!!!

Ian thank you sharing your 'find' with the Sim community. I for one was totally unaware of these three(?) gems. I would also like to add a huge thank you to LH Simulations for their wonderful donations to the FS hobby. I have created a few airports for my own personal use, so I know how much effort must be put forth. BRAVO! Sincerely,Mel
