July 21, 201114 yr Hi guys,Can anyone tell me why when I fly at night I get no lights from the windows of the Fuselage? :( I get lights from the cockpit when switched on but never anything from the Fuselage when in external view. I have switched everything on on thel ighting panel and even tried pressign the L key on the keyboard but to no avail. It looks like a ghost plane from external view. Am I missing something really easy? Many thanks, Core i7 @ 3.6Ghz HD5970 Black Edition 12Gb DDR3 1500 FSX Hybrid Drive 500Gb
July 21, 201114 yr kkkk1 (I'll advise you to sign with your real name before a moderator removes your posts/bans you),You are kind of missing something. This is a PMDG aircraft. Play with the lights in the cockpit and see how lovely it looks. If you want a nice virtual cabin with realistic passenger lighting there's probably a cheap, shoddy product somewhere out there with a basic cockpit built on default textures and systems that you're welcome to purchase :( Best Regards, Dan Parkin.

July 21, 201114 yr Bit hostile, aren't you?Not to sensible questions.@Harry, he's asking about the passenger window lights rather than Nav lights, logo lights, strobes, etc. I've never really noticed whether the PMDG MD has much in the way of cabin lights if I'm honest. I'm too busy to flying the aircraft. Best Regards, Dan Parkin.

Anyway kkkk1, go to the PMDG keyboard command menu and set a command for the cabin lights. Many thanks Kenny for a sensible response, i'll sort this out.:( As to Tigh the post above the last one, thanks for pointing out this was an MD11 by PMDG obviously I wouldn't have known that after spending 2 grand on a PC, with TrackIR and multiple monitor setups etc. I am a very capable pilot and am flying this aircraft using my own flight plans all over the world, but I don't have the answers to everything. Please save your juvenile responses for lesser forums! :( I will however sort out my name issue. Thnaks also to the other sensible replies.:( Core i7 @ 3.6Ghz HD5970 Black Edition 12Gb DDR3 1500 FSX Hybrid Drive 500Gb

With an attitude like that there is no value to anyone for you to continue to post here. The forum is for help and advice for everyone regardless of others opinions whether the question is sensible or not.And by the way who made you a moderator? July 22, 201114 yr OK guys, I'm going to make a bit of an apology here and on reflection I was a bit harsh. However, please agree with me that at times there are too many posts on here by people that obviously haven't read past the first paragraph of the introduction (there was one about the initialisation flickering on start up a few days ago). There are also posts asking about virtual cabins, hostesses, toilets, etc. (I think we know which company people are thinking of) completely missing the point of what PMDG is about. [/rant over]Although Andrew please do read my original post carefully again. I don't claim to be a moderator at any time, in fact that bit of my post was trying to be genuinely helpful! So again, my apologies, I will try and be more tolerant in future. Best Regards, Dan Parkin.

If we can help each other out great if you think the question is stupid it doesn't really warrant a response in my view.No doubt we'll speak again on another thread soon?:( Core i7 @ 3.6Ghz HD5970 Black Edition 12Gb DDR3 1500 FSX Hybrid Drive 500Gb
July 22, 201114 yr Hi Brad A,So reading your question on the forum i think your referring to seeing the cabin illuminated through the windows when your looking at an external view of the aircraft? Well i had a quick look at my own MD11 today, as i couldn't remember seeing any! My aircraft doesn't show any lights in the windows either. I seem to remember reading somewhere here that PMDG didn't model the aircraft with see through windows as this helps improve frame rates or something like that. I think i'd be fairly safe saying PMDG concentrate on performance, shape of the aircraft and looks and functionality of the flight deck. So it seems like your aircraft isn't faulty but the lights might not be modeled in the first place, or maybe all the blinds are down!!Hope this helps.Regards. Happy Flying, Dave Phillips.

If you assign a keyboard command to the cabin lights in the PMDG menu, you can turn on/off the cabin lights. Not sure if the lights really affect performance though... Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
