July 23, 201114 yr I love detail, I do! The depth of PMDG's 737NGX is great. But I don't have a type rating and I'm lucky to get in the virtual air once a week. I want to read a 5 page quick start guide or watch a 10 minute tutorial, launch, and go... not spend the years PMDG has suggested would be required to master the plane. Is there any hope for me to get off the ground in the 737NGX? July 23, 201114 yr Commercial Member absolutely Steve, this is an aircraft that is almost as easy or as difficult as you want it to be. I am sure Ryan can tell you further, but this is an aircraft with a little bit of practice that you can be airborne with in 5 minutes! He has also produced an excellent tutorial that distills the basics of what you need to know. With the option to load the aircraft in various states, such as ready for take-off everyone can enjoy the NGX regardless of experience with just a little (and genuinely a little!) bit of reading. It really is an aircraft that grows in detail with your experience. The team have worked very hard to make it accessible to everyone. You can quite honestly be up and running in 5 minutes. If you want to do everything yourself and learn every last nuance of what is in the real aircraft you have that option too! There are an awful lot of features and the no-nonsense tutorial that really will get you airborne in no time!JR - Jane Whittaker
July 23, 201114 yr Also, Mike Ray is a retired United Airlines pilot that has written several really enjoyable books. One, in particular, is called "Flying the Boeing 700 series in Flight Simulator" and is directed at the simmer who is completely unfamilier with flying Boeing aircraft that have flight management computers. This book got me started, is real enjoyable and entertaining reading and will have you flying after just a few pages. It starts out with a section that gets you in the air on a flight between KSEA and KPDX right away, then goes on to a next level flight that gets you deeper into the flight system setup.Mike Ray has a wonderful and humorus style of writting and a way of simplifying these very complex flight systems, telling you the very basics of what you will need to set up to get going.Check it out at this websiteFlying the Boing 700 Series Flight Simulator Robert Yunque
July 23, 201114 yr yes, is all I can say. If you want some help get Fs2crew when its done. It will take you some time to learn but when you do its like having a real live co pilot to help you and run checklists with you. I very rarely actualy read the checklist as im usualy relying on FScrew to make sure I dont forget anything. I realise this would not cut it in real life but hey. I think Fs2crew atualy makes your job quite abit easier once you learn how to use it. Atm im flying the J41 with Fs2crew voice and its very much a help, for instance with an aircraft like the J41 its very easy to kill the engines during a start, but with Fs2crew he simply will not let me miss the critical prop fether system on startup. July 23, 201114 yr I'd like to use the FS2 Crew voice, but well the fact is it only works correctly with English version of Windows 7, or Ultimate versions. I've tried once the walkaround which in fact works turning the computer into the desired language, only problem is that then updates will not work as it won't agree about key and stuffs like that. I sure wish there was a good way to have it working nicely to really enjoy it. Aurelien Vandoorine

Steven,You will be quite happy with the NGX. She is a plane that will allow you to be as realistic as you want, or just keep it simple. Oh course you will still need to learn a few basics to get the systems online and the engine started, but is easily learnable.
