August 1, 201114 yr Gents, I normally don't care much about graphics or sound quality but this time -with the release of the 737NGX- I have the intention to do an effort (within the limitations of my system). So 2 questions: 1) If I want to buy 1 (one) add-on to make FSX generally look better without interfering with IVAO weather, which one should it be? 2) Does the 737NGX (or FSX in general) support more than stereo sound? Is it worth to buy a 2.1 or a 5.1 kit? Best Regards,Bert Van Bulck asus P7P55D DeluxeIntel 80Gb X25-M V2 34NMi7 860 @ 3.83GHzMSI 58702 x MSI 5570
August 1, 201114 yr 1) REX. Just use it for the textures, you can disable it's weather engine. 2) I dunno, I think so... Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
August 1, 201114 yr REX is a must have. The game change from night to day. Dunno, fsx has 6 years so that's quite old.
August 1, 201114 yr I don’t think FSX was designed with surround sound in mind!.. I did purchase a Logitech 5.1 system with a sound blaster card and fiddled with the sound card 3d settings, but without any real satisfactory results. However, if you crank up the bass and position the woofer appropriately (currently using a 2.1 speaker system)...gives a really nice force/feedback effect especially rolling along the runway…defiantly worth it!!!....cheers…. .........DaveKay. August 2, 201114 yr Well taking off with the A2A Stratocruiser and having the sound volume tuned up, makes my 5.1 system to play the sound of 112 cylinders behind my back.....heaven! :-) Surround works for me, its not perfect in FSX but its there.
August 2, 201114 yr Surround only works in the cockpit properly - but it is not ideal - I would still recommend 2.1 to be honest! Armen L CholakianPMDG Sound Engineer
August 3, 201114 yr Surround Sound works just fine for me in FSX. I have the Logitech 5500 and it's very easy to tell that it works.Cockpit sounds come from the fronts. Voices come from the center. Engines come from the rear if wing mounted. On outside views, the sound will shift as the aircraft view changes. Jim Cranford
