Two CTDs...In two attempts

Featured Replies

Hi ! I have the exact same problem. Just check your GPU RAM with GPUZ just before crashing. I own a GTX 580 with 1.5GB RAM. Memory fills up to 1.4GB, and then the CTD happens. It only happens while flying above highly detailed sceneries such as ORBX (AUS Brisbane for example). It happens with both default FSX.CFG with the HIGHMEMFIX and with Bojote's autotweak tool. Norton does not run on my system and I turned off MSE and other pieces of software for testing purposes. EDIT : FALSE ! I'VE HAD THE SAME ERROR WITH 660 MB MEMORY USED !

ITs tottally just the sea area in orbx, nothing to do with the NGX at least with my issue. Excluding fsx in norton helped with performance, but no more CTDs related to the NGX. YYC-YYZ almost complete planning on doing YYZ-TPA-YYZ tommrow. Happy customer here :)

I will try that, i have my doubts that will fix much..I installed as admin. Am I really the only person experiencing this? I should point out that after about 5 minutes after I load the NGX. Norton gives me a high usage warning, when I open that it tells me one of my cores is running at 98%. Then the above ensues a couple minutes later. After a third attempt I mixed up the perimeters of my flight. Crash was happening at KBFI, ORBX installed, REX WX running, at night. I was able to do a short takeoff and landing in the daytime at another ORBX covered area this time at CYYC, with no REX. And although I got the Norton warning, it did not crash on me, but had to cut the flight short as it was well past my bed time (1am) for a 4am start at work. I have not experienced any of these popups or CTDs in the two weeks I've had my system running FSX, REX, ORBX/
I stopped using Norton a couple of years ago because it was a notorious hog of the CPU and other resources. Try a different anti-virus program and you'll see a huge performance increase in MSFS.

Well I've been playing with the NGX for 12 hours solid now, read the intro chapter 3 times, tried that site that they recommend that tweaks your config, and have not had any ctd's, but HAVE had 3 spontaneous reboots with the NGX, and a small graphic anomaly that's driving me mad.Every other addon I have has ran perfectly the last month or so since I've been running FSX acceleration.Five hour flights in the CS 757, iFly 737, Realair Turbine Duke, the new Flight 1 T182T, and a few Carenado AC.Also run massive multi player races on iracing.com, and run resource intensive second life.My computer has never just spontaneously re-started itself till installing the NGX.Last time I got spontaneous reeboots was back in the day when I was vapor phase change cooling my cpu's.Whats so frustrating is this addon is SOOO cool, and runs very smooth frame wise, but at this point I'm about to shelve it till my next build which I'm in no rush to do at this point.Bummer for me, but enjoy you guys that have it running solid.Woot! :) Chris Strobel

I, too, am 2 for 2 on CTDs. Using ATI's memory meter (can't think of the name right now) the first time ran out of main memory, then CTD'd. I turned down the scenery, airport, clouds, turned off anti-aliasing, changed to bilinear.[...]Specs:Asus P6T, 6 GB RAM, Win XP Pro SP3 fully patchedi7-920 at 2.8GhZ, all BIOS settings at default1GB DDR5 VRAM Radeon HD 5770 (max 400 MB used)Saitek X52 HOTAS, no profile loaded.2 x 1 TB WD Caviar Green1 x 60GB WD SSD (not used, W7 about to be loaded there, though)2 x ODD I'll try again later in the day and report back. Well, I'm zero-for-five. I switched to the tutorial and I've had three CTDs while following Tutorial #1. Crashed the first time in the "Free Flight" screen, the second time while entering the route on the CDU. The third time I even got in the air but ( a ) the derate suggested did not appear on the CDU (22K derate, pg. 40) ( FSX would not respond to the keyboard after getting to 5000 ft, just passed Tunby) ( c ) it then froze ( no keyboard or stick response ) and within 5 minutes it CTD'd. There were no entries in the Event Viewer. I think I'll try one or two more times, then work out the frustrations via Angry Birds. dan davison
