I have a good hardware configuration with 64bit Win7, 8GB of RAM and nVidia 480GTX card. I applied all the recommended FSX.CFG tweaks. I trimmed back all my FS add-ons to the bare minimum to rule them out. I'm getting smooth frame rates and great visuals with the NGX, but experiencing regular freezes/lockups every 1-2 minutes, which brings everything to a halt for 10-20 seconds. Then FSX goes back to great frame rates for a while, until the next lockup. I've never had this problem before with any other add-on aircraft in FSX. Has anyone seen this problem, or more importantly, fixed it? It's making the NGX unusable to have everything grinding to a halt so frequently for 10-20 seconds. Peter Vanags

Hi, (please sign your name to your posts) I'd check for any applications running in the background that might be periodically scanning the system's files in real time - antivirus/antispyware apps are usually a prime culprit for this. Either disable them when you fly or set exclusions in them to stop the scanning in the FSX folder.

Thanks, Ryan, all that stuff has been disabled. My Windows task list has definitely been stripped to the bare minimum for a long time. And why would this lockup problem show up with the NGX but not other heavyweight add-on aircraft?

I get this with the E-Jets package. Turn off FSUIPC Auto Save if you have it enabled and see if that helps.

Dan Parkin.

DO you have ActiveSky Enhanced installed? Theres a setting in that that can cause a similar issue.... Regards Rob

If you are using the Autosave feature in FSUIPC then try turning it off or extending the time between saves and see if that makes any difference. Very very few people at all see this save stutter in FSUIPC but if your harddrives are getting full or require serious defragging then you could possibly see something like this happen.

Cheers, Andy.

yep sorted this for me. Fingers crossed I don't need it anymore. Cheers Dan

It's an odd one, only happens for me with the E-Jets and nothing else and they're hardly the most intensive aircraft when compared to the MD that I fly most. I'll have to see what happens with the NGX but fate has denied me her so far.

Best Regards,

Dan Parkin.

Aha, FSUIPC auto save indeed. You are geniuses! The lockup must be happening with this plane because of the amount of data NGX saves with each autosave. Never saw that before with other add-ons. Thanks for the prompt answers so late (early?)

Peter Vanags

Do you have the registered version of FSUIPC Sam? if you do then you would know how to turn it off, i.e. via the options in the Autosave tab. If you don't have the registered version you don't have Autosave anyway.

Cheers, Andy.
