August 6, 201114 yr 1) You cant hear the APU start. Once you start it, even if start up is finished there is not sound coming from them. The only way I have found you can get sound from them is if you change camera to spot then to inside the VC, only then can you hear the apu.2) after ending the flight and reloading the flight again, I get a "skeleton" plane and everything is grey in the VC.3) If fsx becomes and inactive window and another window is the active, then you click on fsx in the background and it becomes the active window, all sound relating to the ngx ceases and i cannot operate anything (i.e cdu is frozen, displays are frozen, but i cant operate the switches. However, if I try to flick a switch or knob with effects the display units, nothing happens on the DUsCan anyone confirm these? Or is it just my systemNick Nick Watson Lover of the Boeing 737-800NG "If it's not Boeing, I'm not going"
August 6, 201114 yr Nick, 1) No you can't hear the APU in the cockpit. Two opposite ends of the plane. By design.2) See the NGX Introduction for this FSX limitation. Why would you end and reload if you are doing consecutive flights? Just continue with the session you have.3) Need you to elaborate on this one. Your specs would be beneficial. August 6, 201114 yr I don't have any experience starting the APU in a 737-800, but I do start the APU's on 737-300/400's and Airbuses as part of my job, and unless the area you're in is very quiet,(ramp areas rarely are), you normally cannot hear the APU winding up.
August 6, 201114 yr Mats J, here are Nicks system specs from another thread he started: SPECS:Intel Core2Duo 2.93Ghz2gb DDR2 RamNvidia 9400GT Not exactly an optimal system for FSX, and WAY short on the ram end of things. August 6, 201114 yr Commercial Member Unless I'm completely deaf, I haven't heard a real Apu startup or shutdown even in the back economy cabin of a 737
August 6, 201114 yr 1) not bug2) not bug - fsx limitation as per manual3) maybe your system below spec? I've had no problems switching to/from fsx and other programs. Matthew S
August 6, 201114 yr Unless I'm completely deaf, I haven't heard a real Apu startup or shutdown even in the back economy cabin of a 737You are probably just deaf lol, APUs are loud! At least from the ramp they are!
August 6, 201114 yr You are probably just deaf lol, APUs are loud! At least from the ramp they are!And you can hear the APU from the ramp/spot view as the OP rightly states. Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
August 6, 201114 yr You are probably just deaf lol, APUs are loud! At least from the ramp they are! That is true - from the outside. Inside the cabin or cockpit, it is much more difficult to hear thanks to modern insulation. Matthew Bellette
August 6, 201114 yr Author not hearinf the apu from the cockpit is understandable, but why then can you hear it if you go outside, then back into the vc. Nick Watson Lover of the Boeing 737-800NG "If it's not Boeing, I'm not going"

August 6, 201114 yr Because FSX has issues. Just press Q twice to reset your sounds. This is clearly stated in the PMDG NGX Introduction document. I strongly urge you to read through it.
