PFC Rudders: Game Port Compatability with WIN7?

Featured Replies

I have an older non-USB PFC rudder pedal set. The set worked in XP but does not work in WIN7 using a game port to USB adapter. From what I have read WIN7 no longer supports game port drivers but some have reported to get their legacy hardware to work none-the-less. I want to use my old PFC rudder pedals and yoke in my dual seat cockpit for the FO side. Any ideas are appreciated.

For pedals, the Gameport/USB converter needs to handle three axes (rudder, 2x Brakes). Here are two converters (1, 2) that could help you out (but I have no idea if they actually work, so get the tech docs and/or contact the manufacturer. Cheers, - jahman.

When I re-installed my old PFC Console and Cirrus rudder pedals on my latest setup, using Win7, I tried some adaptors but they didn't work, so I had to instal a card. It's produced by Lindy and takes two R232 plugs. I can't recall the model number.

Sorry to bring back this old thread. I too have a set of PFC game port rudder pedals that I would like to use in my FSX install. I contacted PFC and in short they told it was not possible. I found this board from Leo Bodnar that I think might work and was wondering if anybody here has ever use one.

Another bump. Anyone had any luck trying to get these PFC gameport rudder pedals to work on Win 7?

A few years ago I used one of these to get my Gameport CH pedals working

It has a four position switch, I used position 3 to get the rudders and toe brakes working.

Switch position 1 __ Thrustmaster FCS and compatible
Switch position 2 __ CH Flightstick Pro and compatible
Switch position 3 __ 4-axis 4-button joysticks
Switch position 4 __ 2-axis 8-button gamepads

Alternatively and possibly cheaper than the bodnar board is to buy a cheap usb joystick that has a throttle axis and rip the board out of it.
