ATR, DASH 8, or B1900 for FS9?

Featured Replies

I have looked around and Im coming up empty. Does anyone know of a good version of an ATR, DASH 8, Dornier, or even a 1900D for FS 2004? I cant find anything that is payware and I have found a few free ones from Italy that are okay, but they have some problems. Other ones I find have nice external models, but they use a 737 panel and controls.Im looking for any solid twin turbo prop, but of good quality. Is there such a thing for FS9 yet? Payware or freeware.

"I have looked around and Im coming up empty. Does anyone know of a good version of an ATR, DASH 8, Dornier, or even a 1900D for FS 2004".Have you?, have you really?, hmmmm, anyway there are loads.ATR, well Flight1 are doing one not released yet, Aerosoft released a payware one a while back I use that, or there are 2 free ones, one by F. S

PSS has a payware Dash 8 for FS9. It features a fantastic visual model and beautiful panel and VC. In the freeware area, try Oleksiy Frolov's Dash 8 (http://fandafans.fscentre.com), which, in my opinion, has the most realistic turboprop sounds, flight model and aircraft systems modelling available for flight simulator.

I guess when I say that I looked I checked all of the reviews and did a search in these forums and nothing came up. I downloaded 10 different freeware ones from other sites and also did a general search on the net. Plenty came back for 2002, but none were upgraded to 2004. Ken,I appreciate the into on these AC and I will take a look. The one at http://fandafans.fscentre.com/ looks like it could have potential ( I have tried one variation, but I will look again) & I did not know about the PSS one. Appreciate the leads.

"So there you go, didnt look very far did you?."I would rather a person not respond than be rude. It took you more effort to be rude than it did for me to search. Also I have downloaded evey freeware version you listed. They are good efforts, but not quite what Im looking for.So yes I did look.

Just downloaded an tried a few more freeware versions. I appreciate the hard work these folks put it, but the ones I have tried are not quite up to the standard Im looking for. The external models and sounds are great, but the panels are weak. The PSS one looks to be right on track, but as mentioned it is still only for 2002. Though there is mention of an unavailable 2004 patch so maybe its in the works or being fixed. I will email PSS.I guess the question I should have asked is are there any good payware versions of these aircraft available for FS9.

This was mentioned in the first reply, but I wanted to point out that Aerosoft has put together a very good ATR package that includes the ATR-42-300, 42-500, 72-200/212, and 72-300. Its fully FS9 compliant, and is a really good package. Several of the Aerosoft ATR developers are now working with Flight1, who with the full support of Aerospatiale, are producing a new ATR-72-500 package for FS9. Now if only someone would make J-41...Regards,Nick

It may be worth pointing out the the Oleksiy Frolov's Dash 8 was built primarily to teach real pilots about the systems and panel, and flying the Dash 8 so I don't know how much better than that you can get.Sure there are some limitions but IMHO it is the best Dash 8 out there, for flying. If you want pretty external views and VCs then I am sure there are better but I can live with that when it flies so well.

Oleksiy Frolov's Dash-8 panel, sounds, and FDE (modified for FS2004) merged with the PSS visual model is a great combo...probably the best medium turboprop in FS9 I've tried so far.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, D.C.

Rude?, Moi, no my friend, that was not rude, its simple, you search you find.PSS have been around for donkeys years and have produced a great Dash 8, I simple google search would have told you that, granted there is no FS9 patch at the moment but I am sure it wont be long.As for the others not being "quite up to your standard", well all the tools for making aircraft are available, make one to your standard, or "put" up with whats available. The Fanda Dash is quite simply and outstanding peice of work, I can find no single fault with it, it remains the ONLY freeware plane with anything that resembles an FMC.Also the Aerosoft ATR is a great plane to, although, GASP, it has no VC, so it may not be up to your standard. As for other Twin turboprops, the AFG YS-11 is an excellent plane, another truly outstanding freeware achievement.Dan.

Hey Nick,Have you tried Matthias Lieberecht's JS-31 panel?, sure its not a 41, but its a great panel non the less, when married to Jorge Sanchez's GMAX 31 its a great plane.Dan.

Give my signature a click. If you have any questions check out the forum. great bunch of people there.

"Rude?, Moi, no my friend, that was not rude, its simple, you search you find."Well the rude comments = rude. Also in my book asking other people for information is part of "searching"."As for the others not being "quite up to your standard", well all the tools for making aircraft are available, make one to your standard, or "put" up with whats available."Get off your high horse. You will note that I mentioned that the folks that made the freeware versions did good jobs, but I was looking for better panels. The PSS Dash 8 looks great, but the FS9 patch is still in the works (though I hope it will be soon). Next time if you feel the need to critique a question to this degree please dont bother replying.

"It may be worth pointing out the the Oleksiy Frolov's Dash 8 was built primarily to teach real pilots about the systems and panel, and flying the Dash 8 so I don't know how much better than that you can get."The updated version looks very good in the screen shots of the panel. However I cant get the updated version to run. Each time I load it i crash to desktop. I did a second download and new install and I got the same results. Will try again.
