August 11, 201114 yr Hello! I'm sorry that i started a new topic about the same thing, but i want to keep everything about this rig in one thread. So this is the rig i've planned to get: How will this system run FS9/FSX? Will i be able to take the PMDG 747 over the atlantic with good FPS (30+) at the end in FS9 versus FSX? I appreciate feedback of things i can change. Although, the price can't go a lot higher than this! Regards!/Wasso :)
August 11, 201114 yr Only thing I would suggest is changing the RAM from CAS9 to CAS7. Apparently the faster timings do reduce stutters / micro-stutters although I still have some on my machine. Other than that it looks good. Mark. Mark CYYZ
August 11, 201114 yr Looking decent. One thing I would change is the PSU. It´s with 600W a bit low. Maybe you can get an 750W instead. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
August 12, 201114 yr Author Okay, update: Corsair 4GB (2x2048MB) CL7 1600Mhz XMS3OCZ ModXStream PRO 700W Better? :)
August 12, 201114 yr Okay, update: Corsair 4GB (2x2048MB) CL7 1600Mhz XMS3OCZ ModXStream PRO 700W Better? :) I would pick the Corsair PSU
August 12, 201114 yr I would pick the Corsair PSU Yeah, I just installed an Corsair TX750 v2 750W PSU and it works like a charm. I highly recommend it. Good and not that expensive ( I got it for 94€.). Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
August 14, 201114 yr Ok, why the corsair? It is really easy to install (I´m not that expereinced in installing such things.): Just the old one out and the new one in, rewired ( The plugs are labeled so that you don´t mess anything!) and pushed th power button. Was an act of 10 minutes. Also the spec´s are really nice: 62A on the 12V rail sould be enough for hardly any card. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
August 14, 201114 yr 600W is more than enough for that build, so I'd stick with the PSU you originally had in there. Any difference between memory timings in FSX are going to be minuscule as well; C9 will be plenty. If you're going to spend extra on anything, get a better cooler and change up to a 560ti or 570. i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson
August 14, 201114 yr Author Okay. The corsair is almost 40$ more expensive than the OCZ, and that's a little bit too much right now. Is there any other alternative?
August 14, 201114 yr Author @clum Didn't see your post... So the OCZ and CL9 memory will work fine? I've upgraded to the 560Ti EDIT: But i'll still need 1600Mhz RAM? 1333 isn't enough?
August 14, 201114 yr The CL9 will be perfectly fine for everything other than benchmarking software. I think you'd really, really struggle to notice a difference in a game/FSX. Certainly when you're on a budget, any extra is going to be far better getting pumped into a better GPU, as this will give you a much more noticeable improvement. The 560ti is right in the sweet spot for price/performance so it's a good call. EDIT: 1333 would work fine too, but the price difference between that and 1600 is so small that it's worth the extra. Memory clock speed will make a more noticeable difference that the timings, so for the little extra it's a given. i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson
