January 5, 200422 yr Hi AllI know a lot of you guys have fancy Yolks and all that, but I seem to rememebr a while back a couple of posts from someone who was having trouble with his Logitech Wingman 3d Digital extreme. Well I had the same problem I just couldn't configure that sucker. I would drift all over the sky like a fool. Rudder configuration and calibration was damn near impossible. So I got rid of the stick and on New Years Day went and bought a Saitek Cyborg Platinum. It works a treat and it basically calibarted itself. When the plane is trimmed right it will virtually fly itself now.Just a bit of advice for anybody who doesn't want to spend over a $100 bucks on the X45 setup.Wycliffe
January 5, 200422 yr Glad you are happy with the Cyborg stick Wycliffe, however I think it only fair to point out that the X45 combo does have a seperate throttle with more buttons and probably an easier to use rudder control for the extra cash.I own the X36F combo afteer trying to fly with a MSFS Sidewinder and I would not like to go back to that type of throttle and rudder control.
January 5, 200422 yr HiYou are perfectly right. The X45 is a serious bit of kit, I spent along time in PC World looking at it and getting hands on, they even had it hooked up to a demo of FS2004 in the store so I really did go hands on. I just couldn't justify the money especially as the head gasket went on my Landrover Freelander just before Christmas. (that was
January 5, 200422 yr I have the X45 and only paid $79 for it from CompUSA.....that's US dollars. You mentioned $100...are you talking about another currency? I think the X45 is well worth the $79..
January 5, 200422 yr I actually live in the UK and trying to be international I converted the cost of the x45 into dollars. It's actual price here in the UK is
January 5, 200422 yr I am just about fed up with my Logitech Wingman Digital 3D joystick. It seems like I am like the only one who can calibrate the thing, mainly because I take it apart and deal with each piece separately. Well having to take it apart 2 times since Christmas to get it to calibrate is crazy. The throttle and rudder are so messed up on it, only takes a few days of constant use to send it back to near unflyable status. Well, I guess I got my money out of it, lasted since 1999 with heavy use almost every other day. I'm getting an X45 or Cyborg in a few days. Its too hard to fly now with the Logitech stick.
January 5, 200422 yr I have two words for you... Cougar HOTAS!It may be expensive, but it is so worth every penny in my opinion.I guess that is more than 2 words, but words I will stick by (get it stick).
January 5, 200422 yr Aw come on Yellow5, I could buy a real plane for the cost of that stick :-lol, and I have seen reports of unhappy users, something I would not expect at that price.
January 6, 200422 yr I own a Cougar. Mine has the EvenStrain mod w/ HE Sensors. Alot of $, but easily the finest stick I've ever owned. The programabilty is awesome, and the thing is built like a tank. Good to go for at least ten years! I've heard of a lot more folks having problems with Saitek's HOTAS (I owned an X-36... never did like it) than the Cougar.Just my 2 cents...
January 6, 200422 yr >however I>think it only fair to point out that the X45 combo does have a>seperate throttle with more buttons and probably an easier to>use rudder control for the extra cash.Maybe but its left-hand-only throttle is a serious drawback to some of us who want to have a more "civilian" feel. Cyborg has a very precise naturally arranged throttle and can be fully left-right hand reconfigured. It is a great stick. I know of no better one.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.

I know of>no better one.>I use the X-45 & prefer the right handed joystick & left hand throttle. But then that plane I built (RV6A) has a left hand joystick & right hand venier knob (Cessna style) for the throttle. I thought it would be hard to get use to, and even thought about an additional left hand throttle; but it actually feels natural to just switch back & forth.L.Adamson
January 6, 200422 yr Well I was going to ask about the Cougar. That stick looks amazing. Since I love flying the Lago F-16 I was seriously thinking about it.Love to hear from anybody else about it. Then again I may just settle for the Saitek. $$ may be the determining factorAndrew Andrew
January 6, 200422 yr I also used to have those problems with the Logitech Wingman stick.I had a MS Sidewinder Precision 2 stick after that which self-calibrated, and was precise and perfect. I've now got a MS FFB2 stick which I'd recommend to anyone!James
January 6, 200422 yr You know my problem, I've been on the net over ten years and only ever bought cinema tickets online. I really should get into online shopping. Thanks for that VulcanWycliffe(working from home today email:[email protected])
