August 25, 201114 yr Hi, I don't know exactly if it is or not. But somewhere a PMDG member explained that they have tried to Hotstart an engine in a Level-D sim. And they said because the EEC and the modern engines they didn't managed to hotstart it. I think if it is possible they have simulated it. John John Rubens
August 25, 201114 yr Hello, Just curiosity... Is hotstart simulated ? By the way I love this plane. I have the same pleasure with PS1 and Maddog Regards, Richard Portier It would seem not -- (If it was, there would be a nice FLAME "effect" to go with the engines) The 737's engine management system is so automated, that I think it is virtually impossible to cause a HOT START, even for a novice SIM Pilot .. just as well - 737 engines don't come cheap !! ie Even if you turn on all fuel pumps, and open the fuel cutoff valves, BEFORE turning the Engine start switch on the overhead, the Engine management system will not let you flood the engines with fuel, before the correct N1 is reached, and the ignitors are on, Unfortunatly, I do not think that the more common Compressor Stall is simulated as well.No forced landings in the Hudson, when you get a bird strike !! ( Compressor Stall & it's visual effect would make a fun ADDON to develop !!)
August 25, 201114 yr It is not simulated because of the reason John pointed out. I'm just wondering what will happen if you just flick the start switches and levers at the same time. Will the engine start just like in the NGX? Regards, Daniel Verhaal
August 25, 201114 yr Probably. People seem to think of the 737 is not as automated as it's Airbus brethren, but in reality, the EECs function almost like a FADEC in the fact that they regulate engine fuel flow to avoid problems. I'm going to assume that you wait on moving the start lever to keep procedures similar for airlines with mixed fleets, and to prevent engine damage in the event of an EEC malfunction. Joe Sherrill
August 25, 201114 yr Author Thank you everybody for clarification... August 25, 201114 yr I've tried a Hotstart into the NGX sim, but yes actually it is not possible due to EEC limiations probably...
August 25, 201114 yr Upper overhead panel, two guarded switches labeled as EEC, maybe im wrong and they don't switch off all the functions, or they are for something else ? Are they only providing rated thrust ?

August 25, 201114 yr Upper overhead panel, two guarded switches labeled as EEC, maybe im wrong and they don't switch off all the functions, or they are for something else ?Are they only providing rated thrust ? They put the EEC in alternate mode. If I remember right there is no overspeed protection in that mode anymore. But please check the FCOM for al the nice details ;-) @ Jamal
August 25, 201114 yr I didn't look closely to the failures page on the fmc but if there is an EEC failure available, then we can try to start the engine with it checked, and see what happens .
August 26, 201114 yr After trying to hotstart the engine with the EEC failure set, there is no problem, the EEC just switches to alternate mode and works somehow . Maybe the failure doesn't affect the EEC fuel mixture logic but only rated thrust ?
