August 25, 201114 yr Hi Everyone,I recently got FS9 since a saw a lot of people were still playing it and there were a lot more downloads for it than FSX. So I kinda want to make that my main FS but before I do there are some things that I didnt like that I would like to know if you can help me solve: 1. There are some planes sometimes where they shouldnt be. For example, in the JFK airport gate when I was with my A380 there was a Cessna parked right next to me at a gate haha. Also another Cessna would be in line with me to take off at a huge JFK runway. Can I get rid of the planes I don't like? Like maybe deleting them from the Airplanes folder? 2. The scenery is not too good. I know you can find a lot of scenery addons for FS9 but you can only get ones that are for certain airports and regions... Are there and scenery addons to improve the quality of FSX as a whole? That's mostly it for ow but I'm sure ill come across more problems as i got on ;) For now any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks
August 25, 201114 yr Hi, 1. Find and download an improved AFCAD file for KJFK, or create one yourself. 2. Ground Environment Pro textures and FSGenesis mesh would be the way I would go. Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
August 26, 201114 yr Author Thank ou for the advice. And just one question... In order for the small planes like the Cessna not to show anymore, would I need a special AFCAD or any ordinary AFCAD would work? Thanks again
August 26, 201114 yr First, welcome to AVSIM. Your issue with general aviation:I do not recommend deleting any of the GA (general aviation) aircraft. If for now, you do not want GA anywhere in the FS9 world do this; start FS9, when the interface is loaded, look to the lower left and find "SETTINGS", click on that. Under the settings box sixth item down find "Traffic", click on that. In the Air Traffic box - Air Traffic Types find "General aviation", remove the check mark from the box, then click "OK", then click "CREATE A FLIGHT", when and if you do want your GA back just go back and put a check mark back in where you removed it. AFCAD: The reason you are seeing GA aircraft parked at gates is that there is not enough parking (called RAMP) for them programed into the AFCAD. As an example; you have a airport with 10 RAMP parking spots all of which have a GA plane parked on them, then a eleventh GA lands, ATC will send it first to a CARGO spot, however if no more CARGO spots are available then it will send the eleventh GA to a GATE to park. The way to prevent this is to create a modified AFCAD file that adds more RAMP parking than will be required (greatest number of GA on the ground + 1, same for CARGO, same for GATE. Please understand this is simplified explanation of how ATC handles parking and what can be done with AFCAD. To answer your question from the post right above; No, an AFCAD would not prevent them from appearing. Only what I outlined above or a modified traffic file can do that. Scenery: What Tom suggested is a good start. There is a very very long list of stuff available to improve FS9 to the point you will think you are flying a different simulation than the one you purchased. My advice is that when it comes to adding new stuff or making changes / modifications to FS9. Take the time to learn the file structure and why things go where they go and how FS9 uses it. When you add something or make changes in general, make a note of what you do. This will help you track down problems you may encounter. If you do not run into problems at some time or another, you will be the first.Don't be afraid to do what you have just done and that is ask, that is what most of us are here for. To return the favor for the help we have received. I hope this helps you enjoy FS9. Best regards,Mel P.S. check this out," http://forum.avsim.net/topic/346074-good-scenery-for-fs2004-or-fsx/ "

Best regards,Mel P.S. check this out," http://forum.avsim.n...-fs2004-or-fsx/ " First off let me thank you very much for taking the time to educate me with all this info. What I did was took the advice on turning off the general aviation and that really did solve all of my problems with the GA aircraft. Also for the scenery i did get the Ground Environment Pro and added an ENB setting that someone suggested to me. The only thing really left for me to improve on is the airports... Know I've heard of Aerosoft and it seems its pretty good, its just that it is payware and also they dont have the airports I want, JFK for instance... Would anyone know where I can find a good freeware website to get nice airports from? Thanks again to everyone

August 27, 201114 yr Author Try here: http://www.freewares...com/fs2004.html Thanks Rafal, if there is any other place anybody might know please tell me... Also would anyone know where to get virtual cockpts for FS2004?The only things I can find are 2D Panels...
August 27, 201114 yr ... Also would anyone know where to get virtual cockpts for FS2004?The only things I can find are 2D Panels...FS9 virtual cockpits are part of the model. You cannot add them to an existing plane. You have to find a model that has a VC already. regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
August 27, 201114 yr Freeware scenery is available by the sim type here in the avsim libraries. You login is the same as the forum. Just put in the ICAO code and search under FS9 scenery. Many freeware designs include their own afd (AFCAD is one othese). Many of these can not be modified with the freeware AFCAD editor in the utilities section and they may have been created with more advanced tools with items that would be stripped out with AFCAD. Most notably are files containing ADE or AFX in the files you are going to see. Usually the best one comes with the scenery. However in the library for afcads you may find one improving a specific scenery you installed which might add some objects and/or the ability to make non-parallel simultaneously active for ai to simultaneously use. If you replace an afcad type (actually an afd or afs by class of file) just rename the extension of the old one. If you have a traffic application installed it may have placed afd type files in FS that might conflict with an add-on scenery. If this is the case rename the extension .bgl to .bgh. These are usually in this folder: "H:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery" where the disk ID might be C: or other drive. For JFK freeware I have FRF's KJFK installed. That is William Morgan's Frame Rate Friendly Studio Design. An AF2_ file is included so you would want to diablw any other elsewhere not made for this specific scenery. In any freeware add-on scenery there always should be included documentation regarding installation that may refer to special files to be placed elsewhere or scenery library files for specific items that must be downloaded and placed according to the instructions. One such collection is Garish Gray's tree collection frequently used. Just read the add-on's documentation before installing. Do not have more than one add-on version of the same scenery active in the sceenery library at one time to avoid conflicts. Add-on scenery should usually be placed high priority (lower numbers near the top) in the setup\scenery library list. Remember to restart FS9 after changing the scenery library so it adds the change to its scenery index. http://www.freewarescenery.com/fs2004/us.html is the US section of the provided link above. Use you browser's search function to attempt to locate the description on this page of what you are looking for. Sometimes it is the location, airport name, or code (such as KJFK). Here is a revised JFK scenery you might like:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=148285 Be sure to read and follow the installation instructions carefully.
