Finally, an excellent and free voice control program

I haven't tried the program Dave but guessing from the way speech recognition works I would assume if you make any calls to ATC that are included in this program, such as 'roger', it will action that command. It may also try looking for a command when you speak even if the spoken word is not 'mapped' as a command.OTOH it could be a benefit. If you could 'map' say "heading, 020" to change heading of the aircraft then when you read back to ATC the aircraft will obey that command. If you have BB I would suggest d/loading the files and giving it a go, I will certainly give it a try. Thanks to John for the 'heads up'Just read some of the documentation Dave, it looks as if you disable the recogntion s/ware when the PTT key is pressed so that should eliminate any problems.

Dan,duh....I guess I could have figured that out myself ;-) Just kidding, sometimes the answer to a question is just to obvious. Thanks Dan, I'll install tonight.Cheers,Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifAthlonXP2000,AbitKX7-333(latest4in1),512MB/2700SDRAM,WinXP,DirectX8.1,Geforce3TI200(128MB)(Det.30.82),SBlive(WDM5.1.2601.0)

>I've also have a GA headset. Could you tell me were to look>for an adaptor box for it. ThanksI got mine at PC Aviator Direct, http://www.pcaviator.com/. It's called the AudioPilot Aviation Headset Adapter and all you do is add a battery, plug in your headset leads to the adapter and then plug the adapter's leads into your PC. mwm

I have the same on-board sound and can't get the microphone wizard to run and it does not appear to detect any voice input when training even though using Windows sound recorder I get a recording :-(I wonder if the AC97 does not support this type of s/ware ?

I've downloaded Shoot-1.6-full.zip twice from the website and both downloads are corrupted with bad crc errors in Shoot.msi (and at the same point in the file). I'm using Winzip 8.1 to unzip the file. Is there another location that might host this file?

Hi Mark,I am not sure why you would get that error. Did you download and install Both the Microsoft .NET Framework, and the SPeech SDK from Microsoft before running Shoot?I recommend you get the Speech program and .Net framework from Microsoft. Here are the links:Speech SDK 35mb(this seems to be the program others use to build applications)http://download.microsoft.com/download/spe...SpeechSDK51.exeAnd the .NET Framework 23mbhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=enYou also need to have at least Directx 8.1 or above. For everyone else, I did 4 of the training sessions so far, and gave the program a pretty good run-through.The Speech program by Microsoft, says to expect about 80% accuracy going up to 95% by doing the training sessions, and by the program learning your voice.I opened the MSFS2002 Profile that came with the program and added a bunch of commands that I use. I still have another ten or so to add for my MSFS2004 Profile. If you want take an editor, and what I did was print out the key commands so I had a reference from MSFS2004.The profile is an xml file, the code is easy, IMHO, just cut a paste the lines, and add in your own per the keyboard command layout. For those with the questions about ATC. Here is what I did. I am not using any headset, and find at least I do not need one. You may get better performance with one, though. I added and ATC callout to the profile along with numbers 1-9, + 0. (Spell out the numbers, two, etc...) Then I say ATC, 1, then whatever. If ATC talks back I hit the CAPS Lock Key (this turns your MIC on and off), and then when it is done, I hit the cap locks key again. I need to add a command for that too.I added about 20 commands to my profile, and saved it as a MSFS2004 Profile. BTW - In that Profile, you need to change the command for RESET ALTIMETER to a B from a D, the original profile is incorrect. All in all, I had a blast with this last night and today, and find both the price, FREE, and the ability to add any key combination that MSFS allows to be awesome. I don't know how many there are, but there is only so many voice commands you can memorize anyway. Besides, you have to want to do some work or it 'aint flying, right?BTW- With the speech engine, this isn't just about MSFS2004, you can create this for any game. Create a profile, start up SHoot, open profile, start game, and it works. Also, with the MS Speech SDK that is required, but FREE, you can use this for dictation in a notepad, or even talk out your forum message, and then paste it in here.Or, like I am going to do. I am going to create a profile for some of the many, many key commands available for my Office Suite Program that I use just about every day. It is called OpenOffice. You can grab that one here. It also is 100% FREEWARE.http://openoffice.org I truly hope I have helped some of you out here. As I said, I used Voice Recognition in the past a long long time ago, and it didn't really work very well. This one seems to work pretty darn good. It is not perfect, but then again, neither are my typing skills, so it may be an improvement.Regards,Joehttp://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub162.ezboard.com/baboutpolitics.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml

Not only that but all the ATC lines were incorrect in the FS04.xml. Change them from ' to `. Hope you can see the difference!!JimActiveSky Support

Hi Jim,You said:"Not only that but all the ATC lines were incorrect in the FS04.xml. Change them from ' to `. Hope you can see the difference!!"There isn't an MSFS2004 or FS04.xml profile included in the download. Are you referring to the MSFS2002 Profile Included with it, or are you using a different one? There were no ATC Commands in my xml with the program.^|Scratch all that......In the Avsim Library, ther eis a file called pwshoot.zip, which was just uploaded. In it, it contains an xml profile for MSFS2004, and that is what Jim is speaking about. The file is here:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...misc&DLID=42043I used the profile included with the original, and then coded my own additions to that using an editor.Sorry for the mixup, now I know what you were reffering to Jim.I guess I'll run this one through the paces too. Just replace the ' with ` huh. Simple search and replace should do that. Hopefully Peter is following this thread. Thanks,JoePS - Jim,In the PWSHOOT.zip, there is a file called FS2004 XML Shoot Help.docIn that file he explains what he did, and why.***************IF anyone uses the pwshoot.zip xml, please read the help doc that comes with it.*************** From:FS2004 XML Shoot Help.doc"I would suggest you start by using the file provided by

I downloaded two copies of Shoot-1.6-full.zip on different machines (one at work, one at home) and both copies contain this crc error.Because I couldn't unzip the archive, I never had a chance to run Shoot itself.

Mine is shoot-1.6.3.zipThe 6 full is the zip that includes all 3.Maybe try uninstalling the speech, the .net, and then grabbing the files form Microsoft, and then get the 1.6.3 version from shoot. Then install .net, speech, and then shoot in that order. Worth a try anyway. Regards,Joe

Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Speech. You'll find the same training program there, plus a microphone configuration facility, and they should work just fine.Hope this helps,Sandy

Hi Sandy,I just checked a laptop with XP Home, and it does not contain the training. It only contains the Microsoft Sam sample voice.I did not check my default XP Professional for that before my install, but I was advised that the speech SDK comes bundled with Office XP, so if a person has Office XP, then they do not need to download the Speech SDK. If they do not have Office XP, then they need the Speech SDK.Do you have Office XP?If not, they need the Speech SDK, plus the .Net Framework form Microsoft.Regards,Joe

Hi Joe,I do have Office XP, so I only had to download the .Net Framework form Microsoft. You didn't say if you had installed the Speech SDK. I would assume that it would make no difference whether the Speech SDK ccomes from Office XP or from the download from Microsoft as far as the training feature is concerned.I could be wrong though.Hope this helps,Sandy

Hello everybody,First of all thank you for bringing this utility to my attention. But i seem to have a little problem which i do not know how to solve.I downloaded it, and tested it and works fine. But as soon as I connect Squawkbox to the IVAO network, and therefore also startup Teamspeak for my voice communication, the controllers start complaining that i sound all broken up, and bad. This seems to be caused by shoot, anybody got some ideas on how to solve this?Regards,Martijn Budding (EHRD)http://www.matthew.cistron.nl/images/flying_fool_banner.gif
