Hello, when i make the three changes ie.HIGHMEMFIX,WIDE VIEW ECT IN THE fsxCFG i click save changes is says ok but when i look again sometime later it has gone back to how it was? can you help please,how do you keep the changes?all changes to the aircraft cfg i have made in previous months ect stay there? many thanksjames

James, where do you have FSX installed? Program files?, or is it in its own directory?

High,thanks julian and luke,Luke the files are in programe filesx86 with everything else,Julian i have now placed them in the aircraft cfg in the hidden files place and clicked file and then save restarted my computer and they are still there,what is the difference in doing that and what i done before ie. after making the changes click to exit it the says do you want to save changes click save and out.? thats what puzzels me....thanks guysjames.

Something must be wrong here. The fsx.cfg file you MUST change is in the following directory: C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX It's a hidden file so in the Explorer under Tools/Folder Options/View mark the bullet beside "Show hidden files, folders or drives" A perfect program for editing files FREEWARE you can find here: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ Jackthe Swede in Spain

thats just what i have been doing jack entering changes into C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX ....fsx cfg that shows as a notepad.thanksjames

I had bare troubles with it installed in program files....i cudnt even install a livery...all files in program files on win 7 are protected,so any changes dont get saved.When i tryed to change any text in a cfg file, wether it was a livery or a scenery library change, when i tryed to save it, it would ask me where i wanted to save it as a second file so the original wasnt changed.I had to reinstall into C:\FSX ( if i make any changes now, i just hit the red X and it ask's me if i want to save the changes, click yes and it close's with the changes saved.) Try this 1st All ticks under ''ALLOW'' OR I dont know if becuse i have admin rights, i dont have the option, but also try right clicking the FSX.cfg file and see if you have the option to run as admin, and see if that helps.

Hi, it looks like you have Vista or Windows 7. If so, you must run Notepad as administrator by right clicking the icon and selecting "Run as Administrator". >^..^<

Make sure that your FSX.cfg file is not read only, otherwise the changes will not be saved. Right click on the FSX.cfg file and click on properties, if read only is ticked then remove the tick. CheersJack Johnston

yes was about to suggest this but when mine was set to read only, it warned me when i tried to save any changes that i had made that it didn't save the changes, so mite not be the problem but most likely it is.
