What defrag are you using?

What defrag program are you using? I can't seem to turn off AVG or stop it from searching the FSX folder

Yes AVG is an anti-virus program. Once you go into the Services just shut off the anti-virus engine (stop)

I use microsoft security essentials, it free, you can exclude fsx from its scanning, and never had an issue with it

MSSE as well.

Then will I need to reboot the AV through services when I'm done with FSX?

Seriously Drew, think about removing AVG and using MS Security Essentials instead. You seem to be having a time with AVG as it is, and through personal experience I know AVG to be ineffective and resource hungry as well as extremely clunky. AVG free was good four years ago, when it was new and light.

No you can restart the service again, and as Zach says AVG is ineffective I have to agree with him it is not too good.

Ok MSSE bandwagon it is

I used AVG a couple of years back...downloaded the trial version which was a complete version and unlocked (so all the features were enabled and usable). Decided I didn't like it as it was hard to disable...and so I tried to remove it.AVG was so thoroughly embedded in my system that I could never completely removed it. There were always traces of it cropping up here and there. So I went ahead and reinstalled XP...that was the only way I found to get rid of it. Hope AVG has changed that for your sake! Come to think about it, it's kind of like be hijacked into buying the car after simply taking it for a test ride :)Mark

I just uninstalled it through CCleaner. So far I haven't experienced any AVG acid reflux

Ultimate Defrag with ESET NOD32 AV. Works for me.
