Ray, as Rafal allready said, this was really top notch! The way you encouraged FSX's benefits was really nice and not like some others do. Makes me start playing FSX again. But also good old Fs9 is still strong and beautiful looking. If there would only be a chance to get higher resolution.

Best regards, Steffen

Hi Rafal and Superpilot2, Thanks both for your kind words. The res problem is real enough, I believe it's min 4m for FS9 and 7cm for FSX, so no contest there - at least for default set ups (bear in mind though that most textures, eg GEX and UTX only use min 1m res in FSX, its just certain objects like roads that are 7cm). One of my addons, it was either REX or the Elemental Intense Pack, provided new grass textures, which seem at least, to give better apparent res. In specific airport addons (eg LSGG and KPDX addons), they also seem to be able to pull much more res out of FS9 than the standard - perhaps by manipulating the sdk in restricted areas (some of them certainly look like more like 1m res than 4m). As airports are where you definitely want good res, this goes some way to narrowing the FS9 and FSX gap, for me anyway - and enhances the great experience. (see screenies attached). Difficult to compete with some of those PNW and FTX Oz addon airports with waving grass though... if you've got the machine to handle it that is....:-) Ray KPDX addon showing 'hi res' ground textures Vagar Freeware showing new grass textures (these extend beyond airports)

Hey Ray, what KPDX scenery is that? I´m really interested in a good scenery there.

Best regards, Steffen

Superpilotv2 It's FlightZone 02's KPDX http://www.flight1.c...p?product=fzpdx ($34.95) You will not be disappointed - has addition photoreal ground scenery with autogen for the whole city area as well. Looks amazing Ray
Thanks. Do you know whether this has AES support? If yes, it´s no brainer for me!

Hi Steffan There's nothing on the website I can see about AES compatibility. Also do note that even though it is still for sale, this product is no longer supported. Never had any problems with it though. Ray

Yeah, I noticed that the support link ends in nirvana. But who cares about support when I´ve got THIS forum here? :(

Yes it does have AES support - I use it all the time and it really is outstanding! (If you download the MAIW West Coast National Guard package you also get an excellent custom AFCAD and rows and rows of F15 Eagles and other military aircraft that visit from time to time) You don't just get KPDX either - there are other highly detailed GA airports and the entire area around Portland OR is upgraded to an amazing detail. Not photo realistic - but in some ways almost better. It's a shame that the developer only made a couple of sceneries and then apparently disappeared from the business - I would buy EVERY product he released. (Yes, I do have the earlier Rhode Island and it is outstanding too!) These products were way ahead of their time when released and are still state of the art IMHO. BTW, back to the original question on this thread... Here's what I use and I have been thrilled with the results...Flight1's Ground Environment ProREX's Real Environment ExtremeZintertek's WaterASV 6.5 weatherFSUIPC registered Every airport released by FSDT, Aerosoft and FlyTampa (I don't have them all but if I win the lottery I soon will!).... As far as I am concerned, this combination gives you FSX graphical quality with stable and faster performance. It's a no brainer to me. Until the new sim comes out I am 100% happy with FS9. The supply of add-ons is slowly decreasing but there are still more quality add-ons available than my wallet can handle so it continues to be something that can be improved and expanded constantly... Unless you are stuck in a rut of only flying one particular aircraft or category, I can't see how you could ever exhaust the possibilities it offers. And if you get sick of flying, design some sceneries or fill the skies with new AI or...Ian
Hi DillonCould you amplify on this? I'm interested in what this actually does and how you have configured it EnbSeries for Bloom effect (get the latest version and search around the forums for my .ini configuration) - I seem to recall seeing this in some of my forum searching and will have to dig up the topic. As soon as I do I will post a link for others. - The best bang for your buck with this add-on is to use the brightest sky texture available in REX. The offset of that sky and EnbSeries is very nice especially in the VC. My .ini configuration settings helps out allot in this area in making FS9 look really good. ThanksIan

Years ago I loved FS9 I installed FSXInstalled FS9 a few months later About 2 weeks later FS9 was no longer on my PC FSX does have its issues, but with what I have made it, I just cant go back. Personal choice of course, you may disagree

Thanks for the information. It´s allready on my wishlist. I´m currently saving money for my photo equipment (but this should be fine is a couple of days) and then tgis scenery will be ne next one.

You are welcome Steffen. You won't regret it...

Hi everyone, I've also been eyeing this scenery but was worried about the fact that it's not supported anymore. Aren't there patches necessary to make it compatible with UT USA and FSGenesis mesh? Where would I get those files now? Al

Anyone know?
