Howard, Thanks for the heads up but I have my sim running GREAT with my current driver! I,ll pass unless I hear about people doubling their frame rates or something! Jukebox "SOMEDAY I WILL FLY IN A REAL B-17"!!!

Thanks, Just downloaded. I'll hold for a little while until I hear some feedback. If I don't hear it by tomorrow, I'll probably just get brave and install. I just want to know what it does for FS9! Stan

Well, I've just installed them and ran a short flight test; noticed 2 improvements: 1) switching views (2D cockpit) from front to side seems much faster and I don't seem to have "brown blocks" while the image gets updated; and 2) the colors seem crisper, especially in the light colored highlights. I really noticed this while taxing in after a landing; there was better detail in the light colored walls of the buildings.Hardly a "double framerate" but certainly worthwhile. I have my FPS locked at 21 and it stayed pretty steady and smooth, never dropping below 18.5 (flying in the snowy Sierra Mts of NV and CA). I moved up from the 3.19's and will keep these.Radeon 9800 Pro, 128 mByteAthlon 2600XP1024 mByte RAMASUS A7V333 MBAudigy 2VS 24 bit Sound (really helped smooth images)All GoFlight modules on USBCH Yoke and Pedals on USBReal World Weather (scattered to broken clouds, some turbulance), 50 mi visibility.Larry S.

I'll weigh in. No, frame rates aren't doubled. But I agree that certain things like switching views seem a tad faster. Overall the sim seems to run just a bit more smoothly, and the colors do definitely seem more saturated. The differences I've seen from just a few minutes of flying with these drivers are very subtle, but I think I see improvement. So far (knock on wood) no detrimental effects when using them.

From the Rage3D Web Site:"Hi everyone. Available now on ATI's website is CATALYST 4.1. The focus of this release is stability. I recommend this upgrade to all users to improve system stability. (Please refer to the full release notes for more information and known issues). Please provide your feedback on this driver release (as well as all other CATALYST software) on the CATALYST CREW feedback program http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/index.asp."

No dramatic increase in frames but I think a perceptible increase in smoooothness at frames in low to mid teens. All cockpit views, left and right, forward and backward appear to draw much faster with virtually no texture blocking. These will do me - for now.Andy bPS Hey Bill - you need to update your sig if you are keeping the 4.1 drivers :-)

how about the black flashes and text corruption that Omega fixed ?Thanks,Ulisses

This driver requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or higher to be installed. TV

No fixes for me it looks like. I'm keeping the 'proven reliable' Omega 3.8.5a drivers because work great for me in almost every single game. I have tried every new one (and still went back to Omega 3.8.5a) except for the 4.1's and they still dont fix the LOMAC flashing texture thing. I heard its a big problem with ATI cards but is there any fix yet? At least FS2004 works without problem 100% of the time...

Thanks, Andy. Doing it right now.

I like 'em! Now that I've flown with the 4.1's, I notice that like others, my drawing rates on views is faster. I use the new Navajo, which I bought and love, for this test. With the 3.9's the spot view took "forever" to draw. With the 4.1's, it's almost instantaneous. I know the difference, and they are indeed faster. Keep working, ATI....and make the 4.2's even faster for flight sim enthusiasts. Stan

How about screen flashes (ALT) and text corruption ?Thanks,Ulisses

Don't know what card you have but I thought that problem had been fixed 2 or 3 versions ago. Don't have it with the 9700 Pro.

Bill, The "doubling" remark I made concerning framerates was just "tongue in cheek"! What I meant to say was that there had to be a worth while improvement for me to undertake another HUGE driver download. I believe its around 25megs and my net connection is so slooooooo!!!(Would you believe 2.9K P/S on a good day?) Anyway, what improvment you got sounds like a worth while undertaking so I guess I,m off to download city ! Thanks Rick Bruce Jukebox "SOMEDAY I WILL FLY IN A REAL B-17":9
