Assign POV with FSUIPC?

Featured Replies

Hi all-I'm getting my new hotas set up with FSUIPC and all is going pretty well. What I'm trying to do and can't figure out is how to assign the hat switch on this thing to external spot view like I used to be able to do within FSX with my old Saitek X52 (I'm using fsuipc to assign all controls to the hotas and I've unchecked 'Enable controllers' in FSX. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks,Mark

See p. 8 of John Cook's FSUIPC Guide. The hat switch will then control your panning in all view modes. Cheers, - jahman.

Thanks jahman, seems to work well. There seems to be a half-second delay when initial panning starts. I notice that there is a parameter setting in with the view settings in fsuipc. Is there supposed to be some corresponding value that goes in there that would affect this?

Glad to hear you got it working. No addtional parameters need to be sent to FSUIPC for panning to work. Unfortunately I can't compare your pan performance with mine as the only assignment i make in FSX is the hat switch to PanView (Reason: I found it to be smoother compared to FSUIPC when I last checked about a year ago,) Cheers, - jahman.

Same experience here. I can't say I looked at it in all possible ways, but didn't see any improvement over what I could get by assigning the hat within FSX. scott s..

You need to add:ButtonRepeat=XX,X to your [buttons] sections in your FSUIPC.ini file. This parameter controls the repeat target rate of the held button and the initial delay. I personally use ButtonRepeat=20,0 in my .ini file. Full description of parameter is on page 13 of the FSUIPC for Advanced Users document included with FSUIPC.

Thanks Dan . I think this is what I'm looking for. I'll check it out when I get home today. Mark

I also get slow motion and stutters in pan view using FSUIPC. Tried that "ButtonRepeat" fix but doesn't make any difference to my setup:( Do you assign the POV hat as an AXIS or a BUTTON in FSUIPC? Any ideas?

Button.Works well for me using using Cook's tutorial listed above.

I assigned my POV via his excellent instructions but continue to have a very slow panning rate. The elevator trim rate is also rather slow on most aircraft now. Hmm.

Do you have the ButtonRepeat entry in EACH of your [buttons.xxx] entries in your .ini file? Many people have aircraft or profile-specific settings within FSUIPC. I'd recommend adding ButtonRepeat to each section. I'm not sure if the "ButtonRepeat" is a global variable, or profile specific. I've always had it listed in each [buttons.xxx] section. Never got around to testing it though.

This is how my Buttons section looks in the ini file. The bold entry is the one I inserted on advice on this thread. Am I doing something wrong?
