October 16, 201114 yr I read somewhere from a non-FS person but some computer techie none the less that right clicking over the FSX program while it's running in task manager, then right clicking, choosing set affinity tab and UNCHECKING CPU 1 like I have on my i7 950 laptop, will indeed turn off the HT (hyperthreading) thus making things run better. I have tried this and am not sure if it does anything at all... it's definately not worse, that's for sure... hmmmm any ideas? See in my Sager gaming laptop, I have no ability to turn off hyperthreading.. they removed that ability within the bios... so that's the story... October 16, 201114 yr Hyperthreading is tunred off in BIOS. Afftinity mask is set in the FSX.CFG file. To turn off core one is "Affinity Mask=14" I beleive. The theroy is that FSX deicates some processes to core one so free it up for that. I test both on my stsrem and found Af=14 npot to be usefull. However, turning off hyperthreading should be done. Bojote's FSX config file tuning looks at affinity mask automatically for you. Brad Rich
October 16, 201114 yr Where would this entry be located. I have look for it in the FSX.cfg file but it is not there. Should I add it and if so were?
October 16, 201114 yr I have already done that a couple of times but can't seem to find that entry. What heading [ ] is it under in the cfg. file ? I had a look at my "old" cfg. and it is not there either.mmmmm
October 16, 201114 yr Under Job_Scheduler If you have SP2 or higher of FSX installed, it should automatically be there.
October 16, 201114 yr Author no, that's not what I'm talking about.. .I have *******' tweaks installed, but for those whom can't turn of HT, I was hoping someone might know more about this thing in the task manager I spoke of Peter James / Former Lead Designer Flight Unlimited III / ATP Beechjet 400A Captain 7000+ hours total flying time / Sager NP9280 notebook / i7 950 3.07 / 6 Gig / GTX280M 1280x1200x32
October 16, 201114 yr Hi Jim it's not in there. I did find and old cfg. file (This file was tweaked on Aug 08, 2011 at 00:25 GMT using Bojote's automated FSX Tweaking & Tuning Service) and it has it in there should I just put it in ? There is no "job_Scheduler" in my current cfg. Or should I try the "venetubo fix" again?

October 16, 201114 yr Was not automatic when I installed SP2 Jim. I woun't know that even if it did...I'm a noobie at this cfg. stuff...But i'm learning!
October 16, 201114 yr Ah, wait..... it was just the multi-core support that was included in SP2. I had to check my notes.
October 17, 201114 yr Just want to know if I should add this to my cfg. file? And is there any particular spot to install it in ? [JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14
