What taxi navigator do you use ?

I can somehow agree but when at f.i.Charles De Gaulle at night or Shipholthe the challenge becomes a nightmare in my opinion.
Exactly. The other joy is when your scenery is different than the ATC guy on IVAO / VATSIM.

ProFlight Emulator Deluxe (FSX+FS2004) ProFlight Emulator Deluxe brings back the all time favourite Flight Simulator ATC program for FS2004 and FSX. Namely Pro Flight 2000. Picking up on this great program and adding new features to it makes it a perfect stand alone tool for an exciting ATC adventure within Microsoft Flight Simulator. PFE Deluxe includes everything needed to enjoy ProFlight 2000 including a full working copy of the original ProFlight 2000 program. PFE basically uses the flight plan data generated by ProFlight 2000 and the original localized voice sets too. For the user, it will be just like running a ProFlight 2000 adventure but with the most recent Flight Simulator version. Added Features:

  • PFE provides an all new runways database using data from FS2004 or FSX
  • Supports multiple flight planners (including FS2004 and FSX when using the PFE flight plan converter)
  • Active AI detection (both air and ground traffic) during takeoff and approach
  • Transition levels can change dependant on your geographic location
  • Configurable Transition Altitudes for each of the 26 ProFlight geographic regions
  • Use ProFlight's initial departure vectoring or choose to fly published departures (SID/DP)
  • Considerable attention has been given to approach vectoring to provide smooth, realistic approaches to most airports.
  • SID (DP) and STAR support
  • Departure procedures (SIDs/DPs) are configurable and can be named which is then read out by ATC
  • Let ProFlight handle all approach vectoring or choose to fly a published approach (STAR) at anytime.
  • Step climbs and step descents
  • Ability to request higher and lower altitudes visual approach different arrival runway
  • Active runways (departure and arrival) determined either by AI (if in use) or wind direction
  • ATC handles missed approaches and vectors you back into the pattern
  • Supports controlled, uncontrolled or partially controlled airports/fields
  • Emergencies supported with vectors back to your departure airport or the nearest airport (your choice) …and many more

There is a special gauge called TGS (Taxi Guidance System) that you can install afterwards and it leads you directly to the runways....

  • Taxi Guidance System (TGS) which includes a new (optional) panel gauge. The new gauge points to the next taxi waypoint, displays a series of LED's to indicate the distance to the next taxi waypoint. TGS also includes AUDIBLE instructions from your VCP telling you... "next left into delta.... bear right into bravo two... straight on... gate 27 on the right"

Not cheap, but the PFE is a really excellent addon in my opinion.... Greetings...Markus

I'm surprised no one mentioned external view, top down.Sure, EFBs, paper charts, AirNav.com (free, but US only), and all that are nice, but if you don't want to bother with reading taxiway signs, or anything else, top down view will help you figure out a route to where you need to go.I'll stick with my Jepps and taxiway signs though. The top down view to me is cheating, since I can't use it when I fly outside the sim. I remember when I took my long cross country for my Private, about halfway back from BCB, I thought I should hit 'B' to make sure my altimeter was set correctly. After that fleeting thought passed (and I reminded myself I was actually flying and not in the sim), I made a few notes: stop using 'B' in FS and set it manually, and while I'm in the air right now, tune a local AWOS and find a setting.Anyone a CFI here? There's a story of negative transfer for ya.

I use to use top-down view back in the days of FS 2000 but now I try to make my flightsim experience as real as I can. I ended up downloading the 30 day trail of EFB and tried it out with the PMDG 737-600 from KMIA-CYYZ and I have to say I've never had such a accurate flight plan. All the charts I need are right there in the program no more going to a website to hunt them down. I'm definitely going to shell out the 77 dollars for this program.

The lights are dimming on FSX and only getting brighter for XPX.
