Potential Airbus Market?

Featured Replies

Hi All,I have just been thinking and there is no decent A320 series sim on the market for FSX since the Wilco release which to be honest works - but is in need of a serious overhaul. Therefore, I think that there is a potential for demand in the A320 series that PMDG could exploit with their amazing knowledge and skills.Let me know what you think!!Matt.

PMDG has a very good relationship with Boeing. Their products are Boeing-approved, and the manuals pretty much come from Boeing. I don't think PMDG would want to ruin that relationship by working with Airbus.

Happens that there's another developer already working on a A320; FlightSim Labs. They should be on the final stages now. They developed the Concorde a couple of years ago and it's a very good airplane, system, visual and performance wise. Particularly, I expect thier A320 to be great as well, not a PMDG of course because nothing can beat them, but close enough. IIRC, FS Labs is intending to create the Airbus Family line of products, which should include the A330, A340 and maybe the A380. Also, PMDG have stated many times they don't have an Airbus development in the schedule. As Kenny pointed out, they have a nice relationship with Boeing. I don't think they'll be getting away from that too soon.BTW, I just checked their forum and remembered that if you like PMDG's policy of not announcing release dates and just releasing planes "when it's ready", you'll LOVE them! They have the very same policy. (NOT criticizing!)

FlightSim Labs, whose mainguy is Lefteris Kalamaras (who is former PMDG) is beginning an A3xx series with the Airbus A320 series, so expect PMDG-quality Airbuses from them

I knew there was someone from PMDG there, but didn't remember who. Anyway, I do have faith in this project and I think they'll do a good job.

RR did officially state in this forum (a looong while ago) that PMDG would develop "a whole family of Airbuses"- And i can´t remember ever reading a official denial, stating they will not develop one... could someone point me to it?It is their prerogative, and if their partnership with Boeing would be hurt by making a airbus, then it´s a sound decision not to develop one.But it would have been a dream come true.. i was so happy back then, when i read the statment they would do it.I think when i buy the NGX later this month, i wont pine for a Airbus for quite some time though =)Cheers.Henrik Owenius @ HMR VOR

I don't think the problem lies in the dev team being able to get MSFS to act like an Airbus - they've already done something very similar with the NG's CWS mode. I have no doubt whatsoever that they can get FS to do whatever they want it to. RSR's airline is getting A320's so maybe there's hope for one down the road...
Umm, we did announce quite a while back that we intend to make an A320... There's been no official change in those plans after we make the new NG.
There could still be an Airbus light at the end of the tunnel, I dunno...I hope not ;)

Maybe. I'd like an Airbus. The A320 family for the beginning instead of the heavies would be great. So, perhaps, PMDG could be secretly working on an Airbus for the past 4, 5 years as a secondary priority project and now they're almost done with it and release is near. What are the chances of an Airbus actually turn out to be the secret project to be released before the 777? If they've never denied it... Either way, it's just especulation.

I'd be very excited about a PMDG Airbus. I'm sure they'd do a great job.Paul

See, I'd rather an A330, because (well its Delta's big Airbus) frankly I have the 737NGX (also used by Delta) and another small plane wouldn't fit many of us right now. However with the 777 (to my luck also Delta's) it solves the problem!
